Tough not to wince, but well done project. Grill unique to \u201838 and \u201839. Toughest years to find body parts of any Ford ever made. Just check any Ford parts catalog. Should have never sold the one I spent $135,000 restoring. It had a Windsor Ford engine I stroked. Took five years. The rebuilt C-4 tranny burned up within 150 miles and ran like crap. Lost my loving feeling at that point after stretching the cab 4\u201d and shortening bed 4\u201d to keep proportions. Installed smooth running boards and mounted rear fenders slightly rotated forward to give look of truck going 75 mph standing still. fFnished bed with gun metal grey powder coated sheet with 330 copper rivets along the perimeter and across the center. Front hood opened forward by hydraulic shocks controlled from inside the cab. Cobalt blue digital gauges, AC. Deep black paint over tasteful vinyl black bench with red inserts. Blue tooth out of sight audio to pair with phone. Side of hood had expanded metal inserted with 3 Buick portholes on each side facing forward like discreet gun ports that actually brought more cool air into engine compartment. Shaved rain gutters and 9 bolt rear end. All disc brakes with front lowered for meaner stance. Slightly tubbed for meaty tires in rear and less meaty in front. Racing gas tank under bed with flat access filler mechanism to keep fenders clean with no filler neck. Compare that to 73-79, where there\u2019s well over 500. Pre war trucks were used as trucks, not the wife running the kids to soccer. In 1939 there were only 3410 one tons made, bought by lumber yards, industry, farms etc, so used for their intended purpose. So finding one is a rare occurrence, finding one with all the parts and rust free is near impossible. I was lucky finding my 39 one ton, it\u2019s complete, rust free, logo\u2019s from the mid 1940\u2019s when it was owned by a couple of brothers who ran a farm implement/vehicle sales/service station place in southern Alberta. Mine\u2019s the opposite of this one, a preservation, keeping the patina and lichen growing on it, just glass, bed wood and tires, and of course the mechanicals. \r\nBuy this one and head down to the local show and shine, coffee meeting etc and see how many people want to talk. This also is upgraded with all the needed goodies for driving. Neat to see it and see what it bids to. They mention that fenders are fiberglass but possible just the rears are fiberglass or Possible he was wrong and they are steel. Very common for Fiberglass fenders on these years.
