As much as it only looks likge an Escort. The build on this is super sanitary. The tub, and roll cage is a work of art. The photo gallery shows you everything you need to see. The car is well engineered. No expense was spared here. Those Penske shocks are EXPENSIVE!! High quaility parts went into this build. A nice touch is the fuel cell being protected by the cage. The alternator being driven off the driveshaft is another. It needs all the aero it has to produce more than enough downforce to keep it on the track. SHP Engineering has a Facebook page that shows these guys are all about Escorts. Check it out. The RSR project is pretty cool. You know the right folks built this car. As for the engine, just WOW!! Radical Performance Engines are on top of their game. What a incredible piece of engineering. They have a website that is just plain amazing. These guys build some extraordinary engines. The Macroblock 2.7 Litre V-8 is rated at 431.3HP, and 263.5flbs of torque. All in a package that weighs just 231 lbs. The engine is dry sumped. But what I cannot tell is how it's cooled. The engine room is so croweded, I cannot see water lines. The PDF of the engine does not show a water pumpp on the front of the engine. Is it possible it is air cooled, like the Hayabusa it's based on? I guess it's possible considering said dry sump lubrication. What ever, this Escort is a seriously fast, seriously built, race car. To answer a few questions. The engine is fresh with just around 5 hours set up time on it after an extensive rebuild at Radical. It is a 2.9l originally built for British Rally Drivers Championship and makes about 490hp. It uses a Life-88 ecu and i have all the connections and software. Please see the Radical invoice for the refresh information. The car was originally built in the UK by some top engineers and then campaigned in many time attack and hill-climb events. The engineering and build quality are the finest you expect from the British Racing Industry. The Simpson exhaust is a work of art. The transmission works perfectly and is maintained to exacting standards. This car weights 1810lbs with 5 gallons of fuel. It runs a large custom built Atlas rear axle with a ZF Motorsports plate style differential that is adjustable. It currently has 4:11 gears. I have three sets of wheels one set with rains and one set new. It uses a Avon Indy Light tire package. The car can be raced at SCCA events in SP or GTX. Its also welcome at many vintage events. The car is turn key and ready to run with every system and part like new. Ill also add that it has head and tail lights along with wipers. It is an easy car to drive fast. The seat is a Carbon Fiber Tillett and is infinitely adjustable for the seating position of any size driver. The belts are current. The car also has a full camera and telemetry system for logging laps. The sale also includes another set of Longer travel shocks for bumpy Hillclimbs although the Penskes are very adjustable and i have never used them. I have two exhaust tail sections included. Both sound fantastic but the F1 system is just what its called F1 and its loud. The system currently fitted meets the strictest of track sound requirements and was used in the video. The RPE V8 is a fully designed race engine and is ultra durable and parts are easy to get if needed. The standard R8 engine makes 431hp @ 10,500 RPM. This engine has larger bores and makes more power. The additional video is of the mapping for the flat shift sequential. The electronics are top notch and the Mil spec wiring harness is a work of art. The car weights 1765lbs dry no fuel. As mentioned in a earlier post the drivers cockpit is very adjustable and will accommodate even the largest of drivers comfortably. The seat width is probably limited to 225lbs. The car has been run at a number private test sessions and one race as an exhibition. I planned on a whole season this year with SCCA in the SP class as well as some vintage events. We also were considering the 25hrs of Thunderhill. Yes the car has been to WHRRI for a test race as we run there often. The rear suspension is very unique in that is uses a adjustable 4 link and a support similar to a watts link. The RC link as i call it attaches to the axle at each end and then a linkage mounted to the chassis close to the cars roll center. In short the linkage moves and forces weight to which ever wheel is on the inside of the turn. This basically moves the roll center to balance the car and creates great mechanical grip.
