The only thing I can say for the Commando is that I have everything set up exactly as it should be (valve clearance, carb settings, and I installed an electronic ignition that is spot on for timing) On my Commando I tickle both carbs -NO CHOKE- ignition on and kick. On the Atlas, ever since I rebuilt the magneto and installed an Easycap condenser it's been the easiest bike to start. It has 5700 original miles on the bike. No matter how much I tried I couldn't get the writers of the auction to change the verbiage. They claimed that they couldn't state the miles due to the bike being refurbished. So the mileage isn't \"unknown.\" I purchased the bike from the wife of the original owner. He was in the process of restoring it when he passed away. I bought the bike and finished the job. The only real deviation from original on the bike is the RGM belt drive on the primary side. This has the advantage of being zero maintenance and zero primary oil changes. The main driver for this change was the Atlas is known for having oil leaks on the primary side. Yes, you can do things to make it oil tight, but it wasn't happening for me so the best solution (although expensive) was to convert to a dry primary side and run the belt. It's a relatively easy conversion and there is no modification of the inner or outer cover.
