I suspect it was because the funds I paid for the car went to business expenses instead of the consignor. Eventually they probably saved up enough cash to pay the consignor and got my title to me. I was looking for a silver car with a red interior. I contacted CPR and Brian offered to sell me a silver/red D that he said that they had for sale. He quoted a price for the car and its restoration by CPR. As I soon discovered, Brian misrepresented the car\u2019s true condition and prior history. He said that CPR had just purchased the car from its original owner, a man in his 80s. That was a lie as CPR had not purchased the car and its owner at that time was not the original owner but a man in his 40s. I asked for photos of the car. He said that he couldn\u2019t send me any because the car was on a car carrier on its way to CPR from Alabama, which was also a lie. The car was still in Alabama. He said it a was numbers-matching car. I asked for the car\u2019s COA, which he reluctantly provided to me. The COA disclosed that the car was not a numbers-matching car, as it had a replacement engine. Brian\u2019s answer to that was that the owner, due to his advanced age, had forgotten that he had replaced the engine at some point during his ownership of the car. Fortunately, someone I knew was familiar with that car and gave me information about its condition and present ownership. He also sent me photos of the car (the car, which was originally silver, had been painted yellow). I told Brian that I wasn\u2019t interested in the car. I didn\u2019t confront him with his many lies. A couple of weeks later I got a call from Brian. He said that CPR had just acquired another D and was I interested. I asked for photos of the car and its vin #. I never back heard from him again. \r\n\r\nI suspect that many of the lawsuits, etc. are a legacy of Brian\u2019s ownership and dealings. For months I was told there was going to be a deal that would be in the range we would accept, but then I was told it was off. \r\n\r\nWoodside Credit, the lender, then contacted me and I learned that a fraudulent consignment agreement had been presented to them. I cooperated fully with Woodside\u2019s investigation and believed the matter was resolved. \r\n\r\nI spoke with BaT before the auction was withdrawn and agreed with and encouraged that decision.
