I hate to list the car, but I\u2019m not really driving it as much as I hoped and I have to thin the herd a little bit. Anticipating keeping the car forever, I had the whole interior redone. The seats are the correct frames, however, I went with a plaid in the middle just for fun, I really like the way it looks. It looks like it could be OEM, but the earlier ones had plaid, not these second gens.\r\n\r\nOther work I did included a full engine reseal and a couple of oil changes despite me not drive a bit much. The car was very well cared for by the previous owner on the West Coast.\r\n\r\nMy intention was to paint the car as well because of the fade that you can see in the pictures. This is a great candidate for it because there\u2019s not much of any rest being that it was a West Coast car. In my ownership, it is stored inside and climate controlled.\r\n\r\nThe car drove really well, I took it on a lot of longer drives. The only thing that really needs to be addressed is the clunking sound while driving. I\u2019m not really sure what it is. The car seems to drive completely fine though. It just makes a clunking sound which I tried to disclose in the video to the best of my ability. These cars were utilitarian and targeted directly at the \u201cactive lifestyle\u201d emerging among boomers. They had long waiting lists, and it took some negotiation to get one for MSRP, at least in Seattle.\r\n\r\nThe 4wd system was rudimentary - the drivetrain handled differential wheel torque by skidding tires. The odd feedback from the steering wheel on dry pavement was your reminder to take it out of 4wd. On the other hand, the car could go just about anywhere and tow just about anything (slowly) in 4wd low. We routinely would haul a big trailer load of firewood from the mountains back to town, and it was marvelous at pulling a 17\u2019 boat out of Puget Sound across a slimy beach. And it was the best snow car ever.\r\n\r\nBrats never really caught on like the wagons. These days I see more of them than wagons here in non-salt country, but it\u2019s been a long time since I\u2019ve seen one this nice.
