The 1967 420 saloon (not the 420G) was this car with the squared-off front end of the Mk X/420G and pre-XJ6. At least it wasn't trying to look like a Mk 2 with frenched-in headlamps and an elongated boot (to accommodate the E-type-derived IRS). The S-Type was truly a transitional car and holds special interest in that regard.
