I looked at the video on full screen, and it looks to me like the pressure goes up from roughly 30 psi to 50 psi when the engine starts. I called the owner to ask him, and he hadn't noticed it either. He went out to the car to look at it, and, to his surprise, the pressure gauge was on roughly 30 psi. He tapped on the gauge and the needle fell to 0. He started it, it jumped to 50. Shut it off, fell to 30. Tapped on it, fell to zero. So apparently there is something in the pressure gauge causing the needle to stick at 30 on the way down. Yes, I asked the owner that question when I was listing it. He said he had heard of other examples of early cars being registered with the engine number instead of the Car No. That was news to me, but I listed it here with the number from the title so there wouldn't be a surprise to the new owner when he got the title and it was different than the listing. If the new owner is interested in titling it using the Car No from the data plate instead of the engine number, it should be a simple process to have the State Police (at many DMV locations) do a physical inspection, fill out an Affidavit of Inspection, and then a notary can fill out and notarize an Affidavit of Correction to submit with the purchased title and Bill of Sale. That's the way it works in Louisiana anyway. I just did that this week with an MGB that had been titled with the Body No instead of the VIN. It's easier with a driving car, I had to drag mine there on a trailer. First to allow potential buyers access to the correct chassis number if they wanted to look it up in the T-Registry or other lookups for the history of the car. Secondly while a correction process is outlined by the seller it varies by state. It is not a unique problem to T-series MG's. but many older cars with chassis numbers before there were VINs Based on my experience with an Austin Mini it has become more involved. Here in Washington short or \"odd\" \"VIN's\" on titles triggers a problem when you go to register and you must make an appointment withWashington State Patrol for verification before a new title and registration will be issued.
