The good news is the PO had the foresight to get a Non-Op Cert which means in CA anyway you won't have to pay 32 years of fees and penalties to get it re-registered. This may not matter in other states.\r\n\r\nAlso while the PO removed but saved the smog equipment it would still be quite a challenge to get this car registered in CA. All that smog gear you see will have to go back on the car and be functional before a smog station will even test the car. The warranty claims on the Healey sunk Jensen. Dealers had yo figure out how to fix them. I am the original owner of a 74 JH. Yes it did leak a bit of oil in the first few hundred miles, but after I took it to the dealer for about 50 items to fix, there were no more oil leaks...AT ALL! It was difficult to get the cam covers to seal with the cork gaskets, but when the silicon gaskets cam out, even that problem went away. The plastic tees mentioned below were not plastic, but were nylon. Problem was they became brittle, cracked and leaked fuel. Not sure why nylon would have been chosen over a metallic material, but it was and it was stupid, and a notice went out as soon as the problem was discovered. The cost to fix was about $5.00 and 10 minutes. But it's really Americans that just seem to want to destroy the British car market with any flaw they could find. BMC did make a lot of duds, but the JH wasn't one of them.\r\nI had a 24 Hours of Lemons race team and with 3 donor cars that we turned into one, we won the Thunderhill Class C race in 2016. For those of you that don't know, it's 15 hours of racing over two days.\r\nThe 907 engine also made its way into Lotus Elise, Eclat and Esprit, so it must have had some redeeming qualities.\r\nSo after 48 years of ownership, I can testify to it's longevity if proper car is given. I know I can go out and on the coldest morning it will start. It started running a little hot so I had to change the thermostat and clutch fan. A true foreign car nut friend bought it from me and a month later it over heated again and blew the head gasket. An expensive fix. He fixed it and again had engine problems. after a year he parked it and I don't know what happened to it. I know it was broken into and the wheels and tires were stolen. I don't miss it at all. I bought an Indy Pace car with the money I made and sold it a few weeks after getting it and making a pretty penny on it.P/S years later 85 the same guy bought an 85 RX7 from me Hit in the front fixed it and enjoyed it.
