It had a different intake manifold/ plenum. It stood above the CI distributor with no balance screws ( and no EGR. Valve). Very easy to make idle smooth. There was a cast port for the mixture adjustment access below Still used a 3mm Allen but had a long extension handle. If you\u2019re having trouble getting a CI car to run smooth, try this. \nWhen the O2 feedback (LambdaSond) came in I used my dwell meter to set the mixture. When they are cold started and during warm up, the duty cycle is preset at 50% and they idle smoothly . If you set the mix at the same 50% when the loop is closed it continues to idle normally. Using a CO machine for calibration seems to upset the system. The electric bleed off for fuel pressure ( the correct name is out of my kinetic memory) causes the surging. By doing the above it stays the same before and after the O2 sensor kicks in. This is only on the CIS engine This works on 4 cylinder cars. At that time, the available oils were part of the problem. I think they were SF/ CD rated. S for spark engines and C for compression (Diesel) fired engines. The CD oil was a low ash deposit and possibly the start of removing the zinc from oil. Maybe a petro expert can confirm. The single OHC had rockers to move the valves. It may have been a hardening problem but the replacement parts were just as bad. Lack of regular oil changes caused excessive buildup of sludge. This is just when synthetic oil was available and the valve for money wasn\u2019t well known. Service done by mileage is a bad thing when the service lights come on, instead of time and engine hours, like the later cars had. On city driven cars the oil was worn out several thousand miles earlier then when they showed up for service. Most of the Volvo owners back then weren\u2019t eager to spend more money then they typically had to. The 1970s PRV V-6 engines were just god-awful re premature maintenance issues. By the time the 780 came out a decade later, Volvo had sorted out most of the Peugeot-Renault issues. \n\nStill, the 262C was always \"the Volvo for people who are short\". As someone who is 6' plus, the only 262C that I ever fit in, height-wise, was the 262 Solaire convertible that Bud Ward (Portland Volvo) graciously allowed me to drive to one of the early VCOA meets in the mid-1980s in VT. \n\nThe 262C is a love it or hate it exercise by Bertone and Volvo. IMHO, this particular example would look a lot better with properly-recreated Bertone front seat covers, the proper Bertone OEM steering wheel (and @AlexBert that's not the DL steering wheel), and proper paint rather than satin black. \n\nThe best 262C I've ever seen (Massachusetts VCOA meet a long time ago) was black on black, no vinyl roof, LS1 Corvette motor, and dual exhausts with Flowmasters or similar.
