They have to take the motor out. The timing belt \"upgrade\" was around $500 in parts. I did that myself, but wouldn't do it a second time. You've never seen a belt so tortured as that S&S timing belt. If it hasn't been switched, this would also eventually need rear drive belt pulley change as these early ones were aluminum and are known to wear badly, causing much noise and frustration. I replaced mine at 10,000 miles because belt had worn and was skipping and bucking. That is about $1200 in parts. Those are just a few of the known issues I've fixed on my 2013. My chassis was #931, so this 2012 pre-dates that, and likely has all the early problems if they haven't been fixed. From the photos it appears the steering comfort kit is installed. This would also be subject to a recall for a frame reinforcement if necessary. That is a simple thing, and much less trouble than it sounds. Unless someone lives in a hot climate I would skip adding the cooling fan kit. The bevel box can be a source of frustration, but I've been lucky on that count, so I don't have much experience with that. That is a tough question, and other opinions might vary, but I can give you my thoughts. The seller appears to be looking into which \"upgrades\" were done, so take that into account. If I were to be the new owner of this I would;\r\n- Find a Morgan dealer to work with - you will get to know them well ;) Have them go over the car, check for the frame retrofit, have the timing belt \"upgrade\" done. (ours failed in the middle of BFE and we spent 10 hours in a field waiting for a trailer).\r\n- Personally, I would drive it until the compensator started to fail, then replace it. Some people are getting decent mileage out of them before failure. I made it around 5000 miles. When you do this change it is a good time to do a bunch of the other stuff too.\r\n- The rear sprocket could wait, but I think I would do that sooner rather than later. It will fail at some point and you did it right away you might save your belt. The sprocket wears badly and it will never be as quiet as it is right now. It just gets louder and sloppier.\r\n- The Harley style electric regulator mounted on front with bobbins will probably fall off if you drove it home. The factory repositions them now, but this one will have it mounted right up front and the exhaust cooks them. I just hard-mounted mine and it has been fine. There is a lot of vibration going on up there, but it seems to hold up. \r\n\r\nI hope all this doesn't come across as too negative. These cars are hard to describe. I've never had an inanimate object that provided me with so pleasure AND mental anguish. Go into it with your eyes open - this car will likely let you down at some point. It will leave you stranded. It is noisy and fiddly. You will begin to spend hours on forums and the web searching for manuals and talking to like-minded lunatics..... and the rest of the time you and everyone one that you pass will have a giant grin on your faces.
