This happens to all of them as the metal trim clips would scratch right through the paint at the factory. The great news is that the windshield carried over to the 240 right up to 1993 \u2013\u00a0this means that replacement glass is easy to find, and allows you to ditch those awful 140 trim & clips and instead use plastic 240 clips (Still available \u2013\u00a0Volvo PN: 270148) and easy to source 240 trim that sits a bit more flush and has less wind noise. \r\n\r\nAlso\u00a0\u2013\u00a0bleeding the brakes without removing the brake warning switch will snap the plastic plunger causing the \"Brake\" light on the dash to stay on \u2013 which is likely why it's unplugged in the photos. Even at Volvo meets, a 142 will be outnumbered by Amazons, 544's and 1800's by 10 to 1. \r\n\r\nModel year 70 is the last of the old style door handles, and first year with the one-piece grill, and louvers beneath the front bumper. Bumpers had yet to grow into monstrous protuberances. But Volvo discontinued the use of beautiful stamped-aluminum sill plates in favor of black plastic after 1970. \r\n\r\nI note the presence of the chrome plastic bezels on the side marker lights. Rare to see them. There are decent aftermarket Re-po's for the tail lamp bezels and license plate lamp assembly. There's also a 8 step, 9-day restoration process, for the latter, on U-Tube, which is easy to follow as long, as you speak fluent Dutch ;-)\r\n\r\nPerhaps someone will build a Stage 2 VCS engine for it, with all the right bits. Then add an M-41 and limited slip. Drop it down 1.5 inches with VCS sport springs and re-valved Bilsteins. Re-shoe it with 5-1/2' steelies and 195/60's. Don't forget the Rallye instrument panel and NOS Abarth exhaust. Oh, wait. Please don't do that til I'm done finding all those parts for mine! \r\n\r\nI have no doubt this will find a good home via this auction.
