When my wife and I toured the factory in Boligna a few years ago, we walked inches away from the dozens of workers (more like craftsmen it seemed) and the production line and the cars were being put together by hand. Not a robot in site. Men inspected and marked flaws on sheets of leather and women stitched the leather together. A big board with nails sticking out was used to prepare the wiring harnesses and it all looked very old school. I have never toured an Audi factory, but I suspect its a bit different than what we saw at the Lambo factory and more like the BMW factory in Spartensville SC which we toured a few months ago. Most everything there was automated and put together by robots. Highly recommend both tours, but I can't imagine a better auto factory tour than the Lambo factory.
