I believe that it did get restored. \r\nMany of the 250/330 2+2 Ferraris got converted to GTOs or 250 TRs, mainly because they were inexpensive. \r\nBy the time the mid '70s rolled around, the auctions started up, and values started to climb. \r\nThen there was the first and second fuel crisis, and a lot of Ferraris were sold cheap in Europe, which is why so many ended up here. \r\nThis one will go for a handsome price, and maybe even be driven. The 250 GTP2 I had was a whole $2500, which was all the money in the world in '71, for a 10 year old Ferrari that would soak you a grand for a clutch, $40 for valve cover gaskets and $70 for points (and a whole bunch of labor). I think that we spent about $1,200 on the 250, and sold it at the end of the summer for precisely $3700, which was still a loser, because that didn't include insurance. \r\nThere were a lot of these cars on the market as the aerospace engineers found themselves out of a job when everything moved to TX, and then the programs were cancelled. \r\nYou were born too late if you were looking at Ferrari Market Letters for your cars. \r\nI turned down a very nice Lusso for $4000 in '71. You were born too late. \r\nBack then, a really nice GTO was a $7,000 car (but a couple of them changed hands for under $5000).
