If that's important to you (if you want to show the car at concours events), then read on and I'll note what I can see that isn't correct. This shouldn't be misconstrued as \"something wrong with the car\" but rather, just stuff that isn't as it left the factory (or dealership):\n\nThe \"Scuderia Ferrari\" shields aren't correct for this car, but those appear to be stickers so they should be easy to remove.\n\nThe \"Dino 308gt4\" badge on the rear trunk is a reproduction badge.\n\nThe windshield wipers look half correct, meaning the arms are right but the piece that holds the blade is not correct for both wipers.\n\nThe Cromodora Astro side mirror is the correct style, but not technically the correct mirror as the etchings should not be on the back of the mirror housing, but rather on the bottom. This denotes it's likely from a 1980s model Fiat. Very typical replacement as it's otherwise an identical mirror, but worth noting.\n\nThe rear view mirror is missing the base. The base should be adhered to the window, and what you see in the pictures would connect to that base. So there's a piece missing and the mirror was just adhered directly to the windshield thus not easily removable.\n\nThe Dino horn button is a reproduction.\n\nThe hood and trunk release levers in the driver's door jamb are the correct style, but likely came from a Fiat X1/9 as the 308 GT4 never had a locking mechanism for this (but Fiat did\u2026 and so did the Countach).\n\nThe four nuts on the air filter housing appear to be installed upside down (or they're not correct).\n\nAll emissions gear appears to be missing, except for the charcoal canister, but none of it's needed in order to run. However, if you want the car to be show quality correct, those are not easy items to find.\n\nThere's no hoses going to the charcoal canister.\n\nThere's at least one missing hose clamp that should be on one of the hoses going to the oil trap (photo 146).\n\nEngine coils are not correct.\n\nExhaust is not correct (but that's not a bad thing on this car as the \"thermal reactor\" exhaust was just terrible in every way).\n\nOn the plus side, the car does have its owner's manual and service book, as well as the leather pouch. Although, early models should have \"Dino\" printed on them instead of the Cavallino Rampante, the dealer could have swapped that out. It also appears to have the jack roll (photo 143), but I didn't see the tool kit in any photos.\n\nA few things to be aware of: According to the documentation, the engine was rebuilt in November 2020, and it's only been driven 1474 mile since then. The engine appearance doesn't look like one that has less than 1500 miles after a rebuild. That's just my opinion, but I'd inspect it carefully with it having traveled such few miles over the past four years. Sitting is not good for these cars.\n\nThere's also a rather large dent on the rocker panel under the driver's door, best seen in photo 19. The Pinto was a terrible car that became a joke due to its \u201cexploding\u201d feature. This was never the case with the 308 GT4, in fact it\u2019s one of the most historically significant Ferraris ever made as it shaped the future of the brand. This was the first mid-engine V8 Ferrari ever made, which ushered in the new era of Ferrari and is now what the company is best known for producing. It was also the first mid-engine Ferrari with four seats, the first four seat Ferrari raced with factory support, and the first (and only) Bertone designed Ferrari production car. The performance and handling of the car was praised in every review when these cars were new, the only \u201cnegative\u201d thing ever noted about the car was its design. Wedge car design was cutting edge in the 1970s, and the 308 GT4 followed the Lamborghini Countach (both designed by Marcello Gandini).This car, the Lamborghini Countach, and many, many other cars produced in 1975 are well worthy of preserving.\n\nThe 308 GT4 is a legend, and holds its own rightful place with other legends of the brand. I think being aware of what\u2019s not original and what is before making the purchase is very important simply because in the Ferrari world, originality matters and does affect the value of the car. The design/styling of the 308 GT4 was certainly polarizing at the time (and I suppose it still is today!), so a lot of people immediately dismissed the car because of how it looked. And I get that, the wedge style isn't for everyone\u2014especially Ferraristas who were used to the beautifully sculpted flowing curves of previous models. But its performance was never in question. Most press at the time was impressed that Ferrari made a bigger and heavier car than the Dino 246 yet somehow managed to keep it just as good (if not better) in the performance department, and still have a nimble, great-handling car.\r\n\r\nBack to styling, I fell in love with wedge shaped cars thanks to the gateway drug to all wedge shaped cars, the Lamborghini Countach. So when I first saw a 308 GT4 in person (way back in 1987) I had no idea what it was but immediately fell in love with it! That's a lot of money sunk into this car in a relatively short period of time\u2026 however, that should mean it's a solid mechanically stable car and would hopefully also mean you won't need to do much else to it. With the Italian manufacturers' sometimes \"flexible\" approach to factory spec'ing (i.e. they don't always sweat uniformity with the small stuff) assessing originalness can get even more interesting, as we're seeing here with the locking X1/9 releases. I've had lots of X1/9s and the exterior door handles and those release levers always struck me as identical. I just think this highlights how drivable these cars really are, and how well they can handle it. One of his cars is a 308 GTS (so, same engine as the 308 GT4).\n\nI drove and showed mine regularly as well. While I've only owned it for about three years, it was in the shop for 10 months getting stripped and repainted to its original factory color. Unfortunately it broke down last month and now needs the engine rebuilt (long story there, but largely due to the fact it sat neglected in a garage for 25 years - not good for these cars!!), so I'm not driving it right now. But during those two years and nine months that it was drivable, I covered over 8,600 miles with it\u2014which is about 4x the amount of miles the two previous owners did in 32 years.
