I sent the ignition distributors to Patrick Ottis in San Francisco to have him set the curve to spec. He installed new weights and spring that I sourced from Superformance in the UK. I've lived with it since then. \r\n\r\nMy father recently lent me his newer Cayman to drive for a couple weeks while he went on vacation. The Cayman is an amazing testament to human achievement. It is fast, comfortable, and precise. It is quiet when appropriate (so you can talk on your phone, for example), and loud when it should be (so you can pretend you\u2019re Lewis Hamilton). I kid you not, it restarts the engine if you stall the clutch (which never happened to me of course!). \r\n\r\nI worried that, after driving the Cayman for two weeks, the Dino would feel slow, old, loose, and tired in comparison. It is those things by modern standards; but it does not feel that way. The Dino smells like gas and leather, and I smell that way too, after driving it. It doesn\u2019t work well with phones, or frankly, with having meaningful conversations with a passenger. I sometimes wear ear plugs because it does not care about my hearing comfort on long trips. It starts most of the time, and I thank it when it does. I thank it when it completes a long journey without involving a tow truck. I thank it when the parking brake holds. And I thank it when I admire it in my garage at night because . . . look at it. Nothing looks like that these days. \r\n\r\nNew sports cars serve the driver. I love it. An anolog car in a digital world. You have to really drive it to get the best out of it. Wring its neck & it will reward you with a great drive. These cars come alive over 100 mph, even the owners manual has fuel economy figures for over 100 mph! I would drive it to Lime Rock or the Glen from Boston for a track day weekend & drive it home. It was my daily driver for years . J Geils of the J Geils band was my mechanic when I lived in New England, he put a tune on it that lasted for years.
