Dynoed them at nearly 500 HP @ 6000 RPM with a hydraulic cam on a flat top piston 351C. They make them with 3 different spring packages (flat tappet, hydraulic roller and solid roller). For a 450 HP street engine, I designed a custom hydraulic roller using Comp Ford journal XE lobes (216/218 deg @ 0.050\", 266/270 deg seat duration, 0.588\"/0.553\" lift, 109 deg LSA). Pulls really hard with only 50 degrees of overlap and will return 20 MPG (at least in a Pantera) on the highway. We dyno with a set of 1 3/4\" primary Hooker headers but OBX makes a set of inexpensive stainless steel headers for the 1971-1973 Mustangs. Use good straight through mufflers (e.g. Magnaflows) and stay away from Flowmasters. I keep a bunch of 351C intakes on hand to dyno with. The Performer RPM Air Gap is a good all around intake but is relatively tall.
