I did have that hardtop, it was set snugly in place one cold Anchorage night when I hit some road-ripples. The car rippled too and the fancy curved glass window popped right out and became a lot of tiny glass pebbles.\n\nOn any kind of loose, slidy surface the handling was superb \u2013 front-to-rear balance was perfect, and the back end could be placed exactly with steering and throttle with hardly any practice at all. Dry pavement with good traction was much tougher; the front would wash out then grab and the back would go and grab, and while your passenger thinks you're just showing off you definitely are not. I would hope the chassis mods took care of that too! \n\nWhat's good: unboosted 4-wheel disk brakes could stop on glare ice better than most cars on wet pavement. Engine would start on first crank even at -20\u00ba, so I made a habit of turning over a few times with the choke in, just to make sure everything was turning okay. That engine \u2026 what a marvel over the road! Lovely rap on acceleration, then back off and just surf on the torque curve to a lovely musical burble. BUT: redline means redline! The word was that while it would rev happily past 7K it would probably come unglued a bit before it got there. Which it was entirely too willing to do. RHD car with one respray and under 80,000mi. UK 739 HYU. An SCCA racer I knew, Harry Stephenson in 1971 & 72 won the ARRC in DSR. Raced a Dart in the 60's. His Dart was faster then a Morgan +8 on the banks at Daytona. To cool it he had the heat on and ducted the air out the passenger side, He told me as much timing advance as it will take and match port it. That totally changed the performance.
