This is a significant enough Scirocco that I hope the future owner returns it as closely as possible to it's original configuration, and it gets street driven and taken to shows to be appreciated. \r\n\r\nOn a nerdy detail note - I know a couple of the magazines called the engine build a 'stroker' kit, but in actuality it wasn't. The 1982 (like the 1981) would have had a 1.7L 1715cc engine in the USA. It was a 86.4mm stroke, and a bore of 79.5mm. This 1845cc engine has the same stroke *86.4mm) with a larger 82.5mm bore. Now - more esoteric details - the rod journals on the 1.5, 1.6 and 1.7 engines (no matter the stroke) were 46mm diameter, while the 1.8 (and later 2.0) engines had a larger 47.758mm journal. Finally, the rod length changed from the earlier 1.5-1.7 engines of 136mm to the 1.8 length of 144mm. The small valve heads on the 1.5-1.7 engines were a HUGE bottleneck, so the big valves and porting is a huge reason this one makes so much more power than stock. \r\n\r\nVery cool car. So I bought it as a 'backup' is probably the best way to think about it. By which time I had a running engine assembled.
