It looks like the lower end did require a rebuild, and it wasn't just done out of convenience since the engine was out. Per the receipt \"low end was also in bad shape.\" I wonder how much the block was decked, and if thicker head gaskets were needed to compensate.\n\nThe good news is, if this shop is an NSX expert (I don't know either way), it very well could be better than new. It would be wise for any serious bidders to call the shop though, and see what they know/remember about the car.\n\nIf the car has a clean bill of health, I think this could be a great driver for someone. I'd imagine the slight modifications, and significant mechanical work, will keep it from hitting garage queen money. That is good, these cars were made to be driven. I did Not have a PPI (pre purchase inspection). I drove it home from GA to WV.\n\n\n\njas280z - I am an Enthusiast and Driver, but I\u2019m not good with a wrench. I was suffering a misfire and thought maybe it was plugs or coil packs. I took the NSX to Spitzer Acura (they did a some maintenance work on my 1st NSX), south of Pittsburgh where the plugs were changed and they recommended a fuel cleaner. They said if the misfire doesn\u2019t go away, we should do coil packs next. I\u2019m on the road this evening so the name of the fuel cleaner escapes me, but I bought 2 cans, and have 1 in the garage (though Later Ben advised me Not to use this stuff). well the misfire did subside after all this. However, I was not content with Not knowing what was going on, so I planned on taking the car to Ben at Daisy at some point. \n\nfast forward a few months, the clutch began slipping. I talked to Ben on the phone and we set up a date for me to drop off my NSX. MY buddy and I grabbed some food while Ben gave the car a once over on the rack. I also, told him that I would like to make sure the car was \u201cstraight\u201d because the car had multiple owners and I didn\u2019t get a PPI.\n\nAfter getting back form lunch, Ben took me under the car with a light, and we inspected every inch of the car together. He felt the car had been neglected. You can see in the pictures of the work order The Extent and detail that went into the repairs. To say Ben is Obsessive is a major understatement. I\u2019m Obsessive as well (you can see that in the for sale ad of my 1st NSX). I wanted this to be as good as my 1st NSX. No expense spared.\n\nA few days after I had left, Ben gave me a call. He said we need to do a top end rebuild. I accepted that and I reminded him that my goal was for this car to go an additional 300k miles. I told him to find out what a bottom end rebuild would be and shortly after I told him to do it. \n\nI work 70 miles from home (35 highway and 35 back roads) I have driven this car for the commute a handful of times and it drives Wonderfully (more fun on the back roads, of course). We have 2 young children and the NSX just doesn\u2019t have a place in our household. I\u2019m thankful my wife allowed me to make that determination. So fun and versatile. If you\u2019re serious track rat, buy an e36 M3 and dedicate it to track only. If you want to do track days and have some weekend fun, the targa will be fine. I would suggest a big brake kit. But otherwise NSXs are so fun!\n\nyes this is a driver car for sure. I put 14k in 2 years on my first NSX. My cars don\u2019t sit. I wouldn\u2019t hesitate to drive this cross country if I had the opportunity\n\npersonally, I wouldn\u2019t buy a 7k mile car that\u2019s 20 years old, unless I wanted to park it in a museum. I learned a Lot there. I have Not seen any with as extensive a rebuild as mine, so I think finding similar pricing will be tough. You can see in the original 2015 FS ad, the seller mentioned getting the car \u201cright\u201d and maybe spending $3k to do that. I think he was asking $48 or $48,500 before he traded it on a Jaguar. I have receipts (that will go along with the car) totaling more than $25k in work done during my ownership (2015-2017) to get this car Bulletproof and \u201cbreathing better\u201d (Headers, Test Pipes, and Exhaust). While others will advertise \u201cTiming Belt and Water Pump done recently\u201d occasionally sellers will ad \u201crecent Valve Adjustment done\u201d. And those sellers will likely get $45k for their under 100k miles 95-96\u2026 I think this car brings More to the table than those cars. I\u2019ve had the Timing Belt, Water Pump, Valves, and Much More done. And I\u2019m hoping to find the Buyer who wants an NSX that will run FOREVER and Not need any wrenching done in the foreseeable future.\n\nGlad you like Prime. These are Cool classics for sure ! I sought out Ben at Daisy because of his reputation. And there was no expense spared on the rebuild. A buddy of mine suggested \u201cwhile you\u2019re in there why don\u2019t you upgrade the cam, or go SC or Turbo\u201d. While the thoughts did cross my mind, my Brain was focused on reliability. If I wanted 450 or 500HP, I would have found a different car to buy. C6 Z06 or something along those lines. As you know, Nothing drives like an NSX, and it\u2019s the NA feel that I wanted to keep with the rebuild. And you\u2019re right about getting out of it what I have in it, but it was worth it for me. Each drive is worth the price of good cup of coffee, or a movie ticket. My fixed roof \u201991 NSX (not sure if you saw the ad) would have been high $40s car or even $50s I would imagine. He was aware that I just bought the car end of 2015 (not realizing what I had gotten myself into), and I think he cut me a break where he could. I thank him for that and will honor my promise to him. That being said, the winning bidder will get all receipts that I have and will know the cost of the rebuild. Again, sorry I can\u2019t disclose that, but you might be able to find some rebuild estimates on NSX Prime. The running costs on my previous NSX were minimal. I drove the car 14k miles in 2 years replacing an O2 sensor (maybe 2), regular oil changes, only 1 set of tires.
