To drive it safely, it needs new tires and a wheel balance, the brakes need sorting (they are soft and pull), all lights need to be working and it needs functioning seat belts.\n\nIf you wanted to drive it before a full restoration you could repair the cross members after doing the above and you should be OK. Bear in mind that as has been mentioned elsewhere primer is not a great rust preventer and it has a rusty floor, so I wouldn't want to drive it in the rain (I don't like to drive any of my old cars in the rain).\n\nMy restoration plan was to strip the car to the tub, trailer it to get the tub and other parts sandblasted and primed, bring it home and do a shopping list of repair panels, do some grinding and cutting and weld in the required bits and send for paint inside and out. I stripped it down to a bare metal windows-out shell and replaced the inner and outer rockers, most of the floor, some of the crossmembers, the tops of the subframe under the fenders, rear lower quarters, spare tire holder and some of the trunk floor with new parts from VP. Anything that wasn't available I had fabricated. The car is now a rust free roller sitting on a fully rebuilt and mostly powder coated suspension. It is now in for bodywork and paint in the correct light green colour (a rare colour - there are only 4 on the 123GT registry). Hopefully it will be ready to start reasembly next spring when we get back to Winnipeg from Indian Wells in March. I have most of the parts in the garage although some of the small plastic bits are unavailable. Fortunately I have a guy who can 3-D print these. My goal is to get the car as close to concours as I am able to and offer it on BAT sometime in 2021. I haven't been to Puerto Rico in many years and I miss it.
