This was Acura's first entry into the SUV market. @dr.stephan you said it right. The SLX is an incredibly rare car. Our company handles over 2,500 cars annually and I truly cannot remember the last time we had one...or the last time I saw one in the wild.\r\n\r\nThe SLX has been on my hit list for years. Every one I would find would have a ton of miles, be all dinged up, or rusted out. When I saw this one I knew I had finally found THE ONE! \r\n\r\nThis car is awesome. I have personally driven it and it drives great. Upon arrival it had an oil leak from the valve cover gaskets so we replaced both. Wheels refinished to look as new also (just had some minor curb marks). The body is in really great shape with only the most minor of cosmetic flaws. Aaron took very close up photos of these imperfections which may look large in the photos but I can assure you in real life, they're not.\r\n\r\nThe interior is in amazing shape. Look at that fabric! So comfortable, and SO 90's. I love it. Such a simple and ergonomic interior. No smoke or other odors of any kind.\r\n\r\n4x4 engages with ease\r\n\r\nLast but not least, the underbody. Clean! Going to college in DFW in the 90s Big Billy Barrett wud advertise themselves as the home of the $19,995 Trooper! When I graduated I always swore I\u2019d buy one! They were like 3/4 size of a Landcruiser and were available with a huge sunroof and a 5 spd. The SLX was very close to the Land Cruiser in luxury features. I\u2019m surprised that this one has cloth seats and no leather and no huge sunroof.\n\nIn 1998 Isuzu did a refresh and the made it look more upscale and offered a limited edition totally optioned out which kinda made the SLX obsolete. But by 2001 the MDX was released and there went the SLX and the Trooper\u2019s final year was 2002.\n\nThis example is super clean and the red paint color is awesome. I've hauled furniture, landscaping supplies, car parts, and more wheels and tires than I can count. It rides like a truck and has lots of body roll (just ask Consumer Reports), but it starts every time and has gobs of torque. In fact, they called it \"Torque On Demand.\"\r\n\r\nThe interesting thing about this one for sale is that it's a base model but at some point in life, someone added the machined aluminum Premium wheels. They look good. (Now it's just missing the safari sunroof, fogs, chrome mirror caps, leather, and heated seats.)\r\n\r\nCool opportunity here to own a unique and versatile rig. It's a guaranteed conversation piece everywhere you take it. Radiant Red was also a one-year-only color, for the SLX's first model year. They don't get more rare than this. It's a GM box which is no longer manufactured, thankfully. It needs to be serviced about every 40k and even then can be very problematical. Rebuilt ones are available but their lifespan is not good. I have owned 5 of these which were Isuzus. The other weak spots on then are valve covers leak oil, new seals help very little. The rear springs are coil and weak. Because of this the vehicle is overly prone to roll over if put through S curves at speed. The good thing is this is a VERY good 4X4. I used all the ones I owned off road to the extreme. I now own a Lexus GX450 which is a joke off road compared to the Isuzu.
