Also the photo of the car on the lift was at my mate's shop in 2016 after we removed the TT. Power steering hoses replaced before the Sharks in the Mountains event in June of 2016. Laso water pump installed @ 101,695 miles on 6/23/2009. Fuel cross over hose under the oil filler neck replaced 1/16/2010 with factory piece. Fuel hose from passenger side rail to engine rail replaced 5/28/2016 with fuel injection hose and fuel injection hose clamps. I had done some research on Rennlist for the Rotella 5w-40 synthetic, I do not remember his last name, but Doug recommended this oil very highly for the 928. This was some time ago. Doug ran a fleet of over the road trucks, and also ran this oil in his 928 in Australia. He would take samples of the oil and send it off for analysis. He was up to 15-18,000 miles of daily long distance driving in the 928 and still getting samples that indicated the oil was holding up very well. I ran some Amsoil I had ordered for a few years, then went back to the Shell Rotella synthetic for the last oil change. The magnesium alloy once heat cycled, turns that color gray, which is why I had the valve covers powder coated in a gray, to match the intake. The hoses under intake were replaced prior to my purchasing the car, not by the PO, but I believe the PO who owned the car for a short time only. The reason I believe this to be the case was the hoses had Porsche parts stickers on them that ran from the passenger side cam cover to under the intake. This is one of my dream cars from when I was a young lad. My dad took me to the Imperial War Museum in London (we were living in Buckinghamshire at the time) and on our way out of the museum I saw a white 1986-1987 (they began to receive the S4's a bit before we did) parked on the street. That was when the bug bit me. Weeks later I bought the 1/20 scale Tamiya model of the 928S, built it, and spray painted it white, lol. It sits on a shelf in my office today! My first 928 was a 1984 928S auto, soon as I finished at Purdue and the selling dealer would give me a loan for the S, I was in it. I kept it until I found a silver / gray 1988 928S4 auto while living in Virginia at the time. On the test drive it turned over 60,000 miles, what a terrific car it was. The owner had just bought a new 911, and when we met a few weeks later (for me to return his tag), he told me he missed the 928. We moved from Williamsburg, VA, to Vancleave, MS, and shortly after I sold the 88 in 2004 I lucked in to a 1993 928 GTS 5 speed with 31,000 miles, traded in to a Mercedes dealer in Houston. It was owned by an art dealer and he bought a new Mercedes. They did not realize what they had and offered me some money to not buy the car at the price their internet sales manager had offered it to me for. I told their internet salesman that this was my dream car. I have to hand it to him for being a man of integrity, he kept his word and gave me 24 hours to come and get the car. It took almost all of my savings and I bought a Big Tex trailer to tow it home as it was on the original timing belt. I replaced the timing belt and water pump, and some other items, and put it on Ebay. Michael Willhoit bought the car and took one on trade and I think already had a buyer for it before is man picked it up in an enclosed trailer. At the time I was building a shop and starting a small used car dealer lot, so I was not able to keep the car, but it was a very nice one. Three years later I bought this car. With two growing boys that no longer fit in the back seats, the car has not been driven enough, and so I've decided to let it go to another 928 enthusiast to enjoy as it should be driven more. In between I bough the red supercharged car, which scared my wife to death. On the test drive with the buyer, I think I pinched a hole in the passenger seat bottom. He told me \"wow, I never even floored it\". I then understood why my wife said what she did and why she wanted me to sell the car. I had replaced it with a 2000 e39 M5, which fits all of us, and has spoiled me with the throttle response and silky smooth transmission. It's a 1999 build, with updates to the angel eye head lamps and newer tail lamps, steering wheel, and gauge cluster. It does blow a lot of oil out of the tail pipes, and BMW fixed the oil consumption with tighter tolerance piston rings on later cars. I bought mine with 90,000 miles, from a very nice fellow in Utah. The previous owner was a BMW master tech, and he installed a transmission out of crashed car to bring this one back to life. He also updated the steering wheel, Navi unit, head lights, and tail lights. I flew out to Utah, and drove it home. Great trip! 45,000 miles later the car is still going strong (and blowing oil out the pipes), and I hope to continue to drive it in the summer, spring and fall for many miles to come.
