Sadly, he was in an accident and operating the clutch became difficult, so the car sat for some years. He and I tried to get it running, but either the starter or the motor was stuck, and we gave up. I now think he wanted it to be my first car, and looking back on it I cannot believe what an incredible opportunity that would have been. But, the older BMW I ended up with was probably a better choice for a new driver. I also didn't fully appreciate it for what it was at the time (ah regrets...). \r\n\r\nAnyway, a couple years later, my grandfather was feeling sorry for the car and bought it back from my uncle. He sold it two weeks later to a Porsche restorer, and we never saw the car again. Still, I hadn't realized what a treasure an air-cooled 911 is, otherwise I would have urged him to keep it.\r\n\r\nA few years passed, and this listing popped up. I thought it looked like a neat 911, and only after reading the entire listing did I realize it was the same car--what a transformation!\r\n\r\nI was thinking about the car today, and decided to write this comment. I hope it is in good hands, and wonder if someday I'll see it again. It's funny how there are so many cars in the world, yet the same ones seem to reappear out of the blue from time to time.
