The engine # is TCF1607E. I had the trans. # written down somewhere but can't find it... if someone can remind me where on the trans it is I'll try to get to it. The brass tag on the body above the batt. # is 2052/TSF. As to condition of the trans. it's nice & quiet, shifts well, 1st gear sincro. is fine, what I mean by \" out running 2nd gear sincro. is if you shift too fast going up or down you can get it to grind, it Does not pop out of gear. As with all the old British cars I've owned I double clutch it as a matter of course & no problem at all. In full disclosure, the car is painted what I think is opalescent green, a color Jaguar used in that era, not British racing green. Now, to the question that no one has brought op yet, Rust... I restored European cars for a living for 30 years so I know rust well...The floors, rockers, fender & door bottoms are all orig. & there is a small amount of light scale on the floor boards, no holes at all. As you allude, these late TR3B cars were all assembled by the Forward Radiator Company, as the regular Triumph assembly plant was full with TR4's. Thus, in the hurly-burly atmosphere of the radiator works, the numbers on the cars (chassis vs. engine) were often not quite in sequence. And, the body numbers seemed not to change from the sequence started with the first TR3B, and all the TR3B body numbers had \"TSF\" as a prefix or suffix. Absent the build record, I would guess this car has all its original components. Last winter ( 2016/2017) I pulled the engine & trans. & replaced all the seals & gaskets including the main seal on the diff. & cover seal. At that time, we thought that was all the money. It was a nice car, primrose over black, and did not have overdrive. It was an older but low mileage restoration, with receipts from 2006 showing a full shop restoration, and the usual refreshments prior to the sale.\n\nThese TR3B cars with the TR4 components (the TCF cars) do not come on the market that often. That said, the key word is \"market\" when trying to figure value. As others have pointed out, the demographics of interested buyers is causing the market to shrink for TR's, but the folks interested in this type of car are likely have more disposable income. So, this will be an interesting auction. \n\nStrictly my own opinion, but count on 10% of the auction value to fix things that the seller has not yet addressed--in particular a likely engine-out requirement to fix the main seal and gearbox. These cars do tend to \"sit\" very well, but also leak unless really maintained. The second gear issue would be something I'd want to fix.\n\nIf there's a bidder on the outs when the hammer drops on this baby, take a look at the 1967 Morgan 4/4 recently on BaT. I've had four Morgan Plus 4's, all Triumph powered, but this 4/4 is exceptional, and would definitely scratch any cut door itch. \n\nBest of luck to the seller. The car is presented well. If you don't sell it, order a build certificate before advertising again. That's $100 well spent.
