It It is a great option for this application because it uses the pull type 225mm clutch setup like a 915. It has a totally different reinforced case than a 65-69. This one has 911-E gearing is taller than a 912 but nicely spaced RPM drop. Flywheel, pressure plate is basically same as 2.7 RS, \r\nThe Rev limiter is set at 7100 in the MoTec M-84 ECU. It is coil on plug so it does not have a CD box. It could rev higher but no need. It touched the rev limiter in 5th in the standing mile. The seats are the original seats with added bolsters and head rests. We copied a recaro frame design while a pair of Recaros were apart next to them. They work and feel great. I appreciate the comments. I like the (all one color family) look on an interior. This is why the dash is matching. I agree on a black normally as well. I installed a pair of vintage Scheel Sportsitzes for the interior and had it caged. The rear quarters were butt welded with SC flares to use 15 X8 Fuchs wheels on the rear. The SWB\u2018 s were extremely lightweight and the car burned rubber on power shifts up to 4th gear even on stock 901/5 dogleg trannys. Had 10 years of driving fun with it and I\u2019m sure the future owner of this car will too. As a bit of trivia, the famous Trans Am winning Adamowicz \u201868 911 was a 912 shell as well. Good, specific questions and \"why this\" and \"Why that\" or how long have you done this? I feel that I should post a few tech things and a general rational. \r\n Experience: Building 911 Engines and cars since 1986. We have an engine dyno, chassis dyno and use them often. Have participated in PCA, Rolex, Grand AM, ALMS as a Driver, Crew chief , Manager, Engineer, Mechanic, etc. Multi National championships in numerous classes. Key Member of The Racers Group TRG, and White Lightining race teams. Winners of Daytona Rolex 24 , Road America, Le Mans, etc. \r\n Since 2014 we are doing street cars only. We have built a couple of real RS-2.7 cars and a Real 1983 911SCRS to highlight a few. \r\n This is general info and is true for this car.\r\n1) It must be easy to start , hot or cold ambient, hot or cold engine, cold or hot and so on.\r\n2) It must have an oil thermostat if it has an oil cooler, because it won't warm up if it doesn't. This car has a 964 oil tank, 964 oil filter console, 930 radiator style oil cooler with 911/930 thermo. oil fill is under rear deck. Runs cool and warms up. \r\n3) It must have a heater/ def /wipers/ windows that don't leak if you plan on driving it as transport. If your car has water in the floor, it will have foggy windows and stink. \r\n4) It must be able to go at least 200 miles without stopping and sit in a traffic jam or two along the way. \r\n5) Must be able to drive in the rain, body seam sealed and rust preventative measures. \r\n6) Engine should not leak.\r\n7) Brake firmly on flat pavement with no hands on wheel, No plowing front or wild over steer. Balanced handling. \r\n8) Must use as many OEM parts as possible. Can be worked on by skilled mechanic. \r\n\r\n Rational for component choice. The 2.7 is big enough and is still as light as a 2.0 mag engine. The 70 / 71 trans is very strong, geared taller, lighter than 912 trans uses a strong factory clutch and still has dogleg shift, I love the dogleg pattern because it's an H pattern 4 speed while rolling at speed and is lighter than the 68 912 trans. Pre 69 cars have awesome heat and def because the vent is a simple damper like a 356C except it has big heat exchangers. Has working cowl vent, fresh air damper and rear pop out windows. Since this door jamb dimension is the same on the 911 from 65-98, it fit right in the corner just like on the other cars that it came on. \r\n The oil fill is a 25mm (1 inch ) diameter hose this has a cap and is attached to the right rear decklid hinge. pic # 57 is about 1\" off to the left to catch it. It is easy to fill. A Valvoline VR-1 bottle fits with no funnel. \r\n It is the same fill diameter as a factory 964, it's just a 964 has a big , misleading filler neck welded next to the filter. It looks big but you have to dribble it in the hole. This one goes down hill strait to the tank. \r\n The Pegasus will come off in minutes. They haven't been on the car for long. On small vinyl, I generally wax the area first, so it comes off easy in case I don't like it. These heat exchangers are basically like having really high quality headers on a 2.7 because the exhaust is sized for this range of engines. Many times these are on engines that didn't exist at the time Porsche designed this exhaust system, it being basically what was on a 73 RS 2.7. \r\n\r\nThe muffler is a stock single outlet muffler that we basically cleared out the baffling and put the center pipes on. I only put it on there to run the \"standing mile\". I have a quieter single outlet muffler that goes with the car as well. It only knocks about 3-4 hp off. It takes about 10 minutes to change it. \r\n\r\nI honestly don't know of anything it needs. In fact, the person could fly here and drive it home. I've driven it on 250 miles one way without stopping and without carrying any tools etc. with me.
