The 3 way tipper bed removes super easily. The way the bed tips different directions is by moving removable pins (just held in place with tractor pins) and changing the pivot points. This means removal of the bed requires pulling two quick disconnect pins, and driving one pin out of the hydraulic bed that couples it to the bed. This takes less than 15 minutes. The bed can be sat on a stack of concrete blocks, or lifted off with a tractor.\r\n\r\nWith this done, all you do is use a small shipping container that will fit the ball sockets of the pivot points of the bed, and then you add two more tractor pins that will secure the container on all 4 corners, and you are done. The container becomes the \u201ccamper\u201d.\r\n\r\nThe other way to do this is to build a \u201cbox\u201d that slides into the dump bed. Then the truck stays like it is, and the camper can be slid out by dumping the bed. It can be reloaded into the bed easily with a bed mounted winch thnat could pull it off a \u201cstand\u201d and into the bed. Keep in mind that mid last year Customs started reclassifying Unimogs thats were imported from tractors, to trucks for cargo hauling. This occurred at the very moment that this truck was crossing through Customs, and we got nailed 25% on the importation, instead of the 2.5% that we had paid before. We got nailed! Appeals did no good, and Customs gave us an ultimatum, to either pay the 25% tariff, or they'd deny entry. This classification was not in place when the vehicle left Europe, and no one even know that things had changed. You don't want to experience a denial of entry, but its inevitable when you import as many vehicles as we do (70 this year alone).\n\nSince then, every Unimog that we have imported, (no matter which port it has entered into) has been classified this way, and all of them have seen a 25% tariff. When the vessel is 10 days out, the shipment is flagged, and held for inspection every darn time. \n\nThis is something that anyone should consider before bringing in one of these, and Customs is watching things closer than ever before. If you purchase a Unimog from Europe, you should plan on paying the 25% tariff, and on a truck the value of this one, thats a huge hit to the wallet. If you get by with it, you may receive a bill for the reclassification 3-6 months later. Been there, and done that one, too. Of course, you may get lucky and for some reason Customs misses the point about re- classification, but your luck would have to be better than ours. We are batting 0/15 at the present.\n\nAll of that just because one person complained about the classification.... You can google this from mid last summer to read about how it occurred. \n\nAnyway, just another point to consider as a possible variable for overall cost of purchasing, and importing one of these vehicles.
