This particular house was for a Pianist and I remember him in my memory for two reasons. One that he drove a red Jaguar XKE convert and two was that he had his big grand piano in the lower level recreation room which looked out over the ravine. All around the piano were aquariums filled with tropical fish. It was a rather large room space so that's why so many of them - to keep the right humidity in the room for his piano. I restored the entire car mechanically but let it original including the dirt, dents, scratches, etc.-----we put rust inhibitor on any of the rust areas to stop it from getting worse. \r\nThe second one is a FHC; it too was all original but needed to be restored. The interior was a unique color combination never seen before by Mike Cook who handles the Heritage Certificates for Jaguar of North America; it was cream (not Old English White) and turquoise (a color Mike had never seen). We assumed it was a special order color which is something one could do at that time. I'm bringing it back in black / tan ; it's about 6 months away from a ground up restoration. Both cars have the aluminum console and control panel---------but I agree that this car on BAT is correct in terms of the console/control panel surface especially due to the fact that it was built later in 63. This car is well done and worth much more than the current bid. My 63's can be seen at www.wix.com/seepictures/genesgarage as a comparison. My OSB 61 flat floor, which I recently sold, can be seen under the tab that says \"sold\". After some research, the best guess is that it was a \"Jaguar Man's\" car or it was purchased (as many were) by a VIP or celebrity.\nRegarding the cylinder head numbers- I have read that in some cases 1) the early cars might not have had numbers stamped on cylinder heads and 2) replacement cylinder heads were not stamped. My car no cylinder head number, however block, tranny, body, and bonnet numbers all check out.\nValuation? Hard to say. The market zoomed and now seems to have peaked. The car color combination looks better in person than it does in the photos. I drove my series 1 OTS for about ten years in the mid 70's through 80's and it was in good quality driver condition. The color was Old English White which in my opinion is the second best looking color behind BRG. The dealer has a wonderful collection of cars and they are all kept inside. There is a skylight in the building an at the time we sent to see the car the sun was right over the skylight and it was like a beam coming from heaven and it lit up the car over everything else in the building. (ws this a sign? :) I think the ratings of a Haggerty #3 is correct. I am pretty sure the paint is not a stock color with the amount of pearl that is in it, but it looks good. With the pearl it is certainly a two stage paint job (base coat clear coat) and I think cars of this era should be single stage. The body seams are a bit off but not horrible. There are some non stock items like the radiator, which has extra fins, but nothing that I saw the could not be put back to stock if that is your passion. The leather and the other interior material are older but in good condition and could easily be dyed to your color preference. Personally I would put new leather and good quality foam in the two seats and dye everything to match, as the car is great as a car and is great art, but the comfort of the seats is a bit lacking. A lot of people love the 3.8 for the interior trim but are willing to give it up for the 4.2 motor.
