I have a 1966 SS 396 so I'm pretty well set in the early Chevelle department but I thought I'd help decode the VIN since I've gone down this rabbit hole a few times.\r\n\r\nHere's a quick decode of the VIN, 13437. In 1969, this informs us that this car started out life as a Chevrolet (1), Chevelle, (3), 300, (4) hard top, (37) and not a Malibu which was a 136 code. The gauge cluster is all new (so the odo now works again), and has the SS tach etc. in it. Also, I swapped out the non-power drum front brakes for an SSBC power disc brake conversion kit and did new hubs, spindles, tie rod ends, control arm bushings, suspension bushings, etc. so it drives really straight and stops like it should.
