This is what I submitted to list the car. \r\n\r\nThis Triumph was purchased new by a couple in Santa Barbara,\r\nCA in 1959 and they used it for 27 years. Other than the\r\nvacations in first 27 years, it has never left Santa Barbara. There\r\nis no rust or rust repair anywhere on the car. The car was\r\nrepainted the original color in the early Eighties and the paint and\r\nchrome are still in excellent condition throughout. During their\r\nownership they kept a diary of the milage, gas, and repairs. They\r\nalso took photos on the many trips and events that they attended\r\nwith the TR-3. Upon their death around 1986, they left their\r\nhouse and the car to a neighbor. They had drained the fluids and\r\nput it on jack stands in the garage. Not having any use for the\r\nsports car, the neighbor kept it in the garage until recently when it\r\nwas sold and made road worthy again.\r\nA mechanical and interior restoration was recently performed on\r\nthe car and it now runs, drives, and looks like new. The electronic\r\noverdrive allows freeway cruising at 3200 rpm at 73 mph with a\r\ntop speed of over 100 mph.\r\nSome of the work that was done includes:\r\n\u2022 the original engine has good compression,\r\n\u2022 the carbs were rebuilt and synced\r\n\u2022 valves adjusted\r\n\u2022 all hoses and belts changed,\r\n\u2022 wheels restored with new tires,\r\n\u2022 all suspension and brakes rebuilt,\r\n\u2022 new Koni shocks installed\r\n\u2022 new carpet and seats,\r\n\u2022 top, tonneau, boot, and side curtains are all in very good\r\ncondition,\r\n\u2022 radiator and gas tank flushed,\r\n\u2022 full safety check of all electrical,\r\n\u2022 new luggage rack,\r\n\u2022 all gauges rebuilt,\r\n\u2022 complete detail\r\nThis is my first experience with a TR-3A and I purchased it\r\nbecause of it's history and condition. It is like a time capsule from\r\nthe 50's and a very impressive performer compared to other\r\nsports car of that era costing much more. Although it was\r\npainted over 35 years ago, the paint and chrome are in excellent\r\ncondition. Notice in picture 32 that the hoodstick (top frame) cover is a bit loose and hanging down. A sailor would say, \"not Bristol.\" The reason is because the fitter person left off two \"lift-the-dot\" fasteners. As the Moss Motors catalog shows, the stick cover requires 14 fasteners. This car presently only has 12. The two missing ones? They go on the inside of the car in the corners. A close-up examination of photo 34 shows that the fastener pegs are definitely already there from the factory and just waiting for the fasteners to be installed on the cover. What will happen when these are applied will be to bring the loose cover part, now hanging down, up close to the rest of cover. The other recommendation is to stuff the very ends of the top sticks, now exposed, into the purposeful sewn pocket on the cover. This will add to the correct cover tightness. The only downside to having the mirrors out on the wings like that is that they will get bumped and misaligned by every oblivious parking lot pedestrian. So don\u2019t screw them down real hard.
