What to me is amazing is the overall cosmetic condition, particularly the paint and trim. It's unusual in my experience to see this apparent quality even in the more collectible variations. Stripes would not have been factory on a base 2bbl car and the color is not exactly \"sport/muscle\". On the other hand, given the pedestrian mainstream equipment a tasteful update could be guilt-free and liberate the later A-Body mechanical opportunities like suspension/brake/engine/rearend upgrades that came in later years. I have personally owned a base V100 Valiant 2dr with all the good stuff including 4spd, disk brakes, Sure-Grip and fast ratio manual steering. Disk brakes (4 piston Kelsey-Hayes) were available in 1965 but came in the trunk for dealer install, much like rear disks or crossram intakes for Z28 Camaros. The full Monte performance A-bodies were competitive and campaigned in SCCA A-Sedan racing, no accident as chief chassis engineer Scott Harvey was himself an SCCA Pro Rally champion and Trans Am participant in these very cars. \n\nSo this one's lack of \"Commando\" script on the V8 emblem indicates 2bbl while no front anti-sway bar means base suspension. They did have a tendency to rot out the bottom of the resonator quickly as it was a water vapor trap at a point where the exhaust gas has cooled significantly. For 1965 only, there was no central muffler and they were really loud. I know of an original owner who was issued a noise citation when their car was new. The car arrived quickly and like many things we were pleased with it at first. After taking a closer look at all systems I noticed that the car had a DIFFERENT brake booster than what was pictured in the auction, and it was in fact one of those Chinese gold shiny pieces of crap. The brakes felt horrible. I also quickly noticed some filler in the rear quarters after the buyer had absolutely assured me there was no filler on the car. I contacted the seller and after receiving no satisfaction I contacted BaT. They contacted the seller and he reportedly treated them as badly as he treated me. He did admit to me that he changed the booster and that was a big deal because as many of you know these boosters are unobtanium. I tried. BaT refunded my buyer's fee and we soured on the car after all the negative emotional energy. I am told that the seller was banned. We sold the car for a significant loss and I hope the buyer is enjoying it.
