Three reasons I bought the car. Originality, original low miles and color combination. Several people who know paint work much better than me state that most of the paint work is original but there has been some work to the paint therefore I will not represent the paint being completely original. I did send the car to The Shine Shop in Greensboro for a complete paint correction and ceramic coating and the car has been touched from top to bottom, rubber, chrome, stainless steel, interior and engine bay. The car is straight. Rides like the day it came off the showroom floor. The previous owners certainly kept this car in mint condition. Here are the items that are not original. Convertible top with rear window and frame. Convertible top motor. Floor mats. Mufflers. Gas tank. Brake lines. Shocks. Coker tires and Coker wire wheels. The tires and wheels I purchased this past summer and have 500 miles on them. Even the clock has been working now for 62 years. Every lightbulb exterior and interior, radio speaker, power antenna there\u2019s nothing on this car that does not work like the day it came off the showroom floor. Notice the picture of the oil changed in 1974 at 32,000 miles. That means this car has only been driven 8360 miles in 48 years. To me it\u2019s a piece of history that I\u2019ve enjoyed for two years so be ready when you drive this car down the road for the horn blowing, hand waving, picture taking, videos, and just good conversation about the history of this automobile. People from age 5 to 95 will come up to this car and ask for pictures because it happened the first weekend we owned the car. My wife and I called it \u201clet\u2019s go make people smile\u201d. Most of the nuts and bolts have never had a wrench applied to them in the engine bay. My attitude while owning the car is keep it as original as possible. The only mechanical work I have performed while owning the car is front end alignment, new Coker wheels and Coker Classic radial tires (500 miles on them), change the engine oil, transmission oil, new spark plugs and rebuild the fuel pump. I was happy to see this car come around again. hope I can provide some additional perspective on the history of this car \u2014 because I owned it. \r\n\r\nA dealer friend of mine found this car in New York in late 2015. After a period of negotiation it was purchased by me in 2016 from the second or third owner (seller was unclear), who had owned it for some time. When it came to me it was a nice original that required a substantial amount of deferred maintenance, cleanup, etc. It was equipped with the original \u201cpie pan\u201d wheel covers that were standard issue on the car, and incorrect tires. I replaced the wheels/tires with Coker wire wheels and wide whitewalls (American Classics). I transferred the original wheels and wheel covers when it was subsequently sold. I also replaced the clock, many light bulbs, purchased the red rubber mats (Caddy Daddy), did substantial freshening of the undercarriage, did quite a bit of transmission work and performed a variety of other ordinary maintenance items. \r\n\r\nWhen it came to me it showed just over 38,000 miles. I put approximately 700 miles on the car before I sold it on eBay to an individual in latter 2017. Photos of it in front of my Dallas home are retrievable on the web. \r\n\r\nAs far as the paint is concerned, at the time I owned it, my mechanic informed that the entire front clip appeared to have been painted (I cannot comment on if this was elective or by necessity), and some repaint was evident on the rear quarters and lower doors, some touch up on the trunk and door jambs had been repainted. \r\n\r\nWhen I received it the car had sustained rear impact. I had the rear bumper removed, straightened, repaired and all support brackets and mechanisms repaired or replaced. I considered repainting the car at that time, but decided the driver quality paint was more consistent with the overall condition of the car. \r\n\r\nThe car also retained the original patina on the engine, but, unfortunately, the engine has since incorrectly repainted (note where it has been masked off around the hoses). This is regrettable as the original engine looked very nice and now calls into question the originality of the car. \r\n\r\nThis Cadillac showed up again in 2020 when it was being marketed by a dealer in Ohio. I spoke with the dealer at that time who said the car had paintwork, but he was not specific as to how much, so I cannot comment if the previous owner(s) had it repainted in their care. I keep a pvc pan under the car to protect my garage floor. The small items on this car I did not fix to continue to keep the car as original as possible but the next owner may want to remove oil pans and gaskets to stop the leaks. The older vintage cars I have owned in the past I lived with a few oil leaks but others may not agree with this. Not enough oil leaking to cause an issue with oil levels in the motor or transmission. No oil is getting on the back of the car and getting on the paint going down the road. There is a very small gasket leak right side header but goes away once the engine is hot. You can hear it in one of my videos. The temperature that morning I believe was in the low 30s and a cold engine. The noise was never at a level that bothered me to have it fixed. He'd driven it up from Texas just to visit one hot summer day. Had to be '65 or '66 I think for me to remember it but my recollection of the actual event is as clear as day. It wasn't often I rode in cars like Uncle Jake's. \r\n\r\nHe drove, with the Beehive sitting next to him and the Oldsmobile Man next to her. Big Sis and I rode in the back seat, but you could've fit all our friends back there with us and a dog or two to boot. We went out for lunch at the old A&W drive-in on Highway 2. It's been torn down for years now, but back then it was a hopping place and when we pulled that big white boat into port and docked, every eye was on us. I felt like a movie star. Elvis.\r\n\r\nA magical day. I still remember the taste of my Teenburger and being ever so careful not to drip any root beer on that black leather seat. The feeling of the wind whipping through my hair and the sun on my face and the smell of the water as we went for an after-lunch cruise out around the lake.
