The play on the field simply stopped - both teams, and the ball bounced to a halt. Nobody could believe that such a thing actually existed. In the eight years I have owned it, I have taken it to five shows in the US. It has won three Best in Class awards, one Second Best in Class (up against several cars worth $100,000's,) one Best in Show and an award at the Hemmings in Saratoga \"Car I would buy if I won the lottery\". (That is six awards since it won a \"Best in Class\" and a \"Best in Show\" at the same event.) \n\nGreat car. You can see that a lot of time and care was taken with the restoration. \n\nCliff \n\n\n\nAnd BTW, everyone remarks about the tiller steering, but it takes roughly two seconds to use it and it becomes second nature. Car is reliable, starts easily and I drive mine several hundred miles a year, generally with organized groups. I suspect it is that way every year. There are hundreds of cars at this event, all built before 1905 and many worth hundreds and hundreds of thousands of US$, some of them are valued in the millions. \n\nIt is a world class event and the start is simply magical. The first cars are on their way at dawn, so all the staging is done pre dawn. You cannot imagine the spectacle of the headlamps of 400 of these cars appearing out of the gathering dawn in Hyde Park. It is worth the price of admission just to see the start and the CDO is far and away the least expensive vehicle you can own and participate. \n\nThere are really just a handful of truly world-class events for cars. London-to-Brighton is one of them and Pebble Beach is another. Pebble Beach, of course is by invitation but CDO's are frequently invited. London-to-Brighton is by build date and an actual, dated CDO from 1904 is eligible. You cannot find an automobile for less cost that is eligible for these world-class events. \n\nA good running 1904 CDO is a reliable means of transportation. The construction is rugged and robust.
