The design of the 240Z with it's long hood, swept haunches and low profile give it a decidedly exotic European flair. While slots look great on a Mustang or Chevelle, they are anything but exotic. Peter Brock, who was a designer by trade, chose the Libras for his race cars for a reason. They have a decidedly more exotic look. Head gasket, totally rebuilt cylinder head, new exhaust, rebuilt carbs, new timing chain, Jet Hot coat exhaust manifold, new water pump and new fuel pump is where most of the money went. Vapor lock issues\nwere improved but not eliminated. Only thing that fully eliminates it so far is the running of non ethanol gas, specifically 90 octane pure gasoline out of the pump at my local Citco station or 100 Low lead aviation fuel which I run in my Piper and can get from my local airport. Cutting ethanol hi test 50/50 does the trick. Meanwhile my search for a cure continues. One guy posted a youtube video showing the installation of a bilge fan to blow cool air on the fuel lines. Maybe I'll try that next. Now, I want to say this so my feelings about 240Zs are clear. It is one of the most fun rides you can have, at any price. The power of the engine, the exhaust note, the throttle response, the handling and the timeless beauty of the lines conspire to intoxicate the always grinning driver. Most classic and vintage cars have their challenges to get them fully sorted but IMHO, none are more worthy of the effort than a 240Z. As for future values, I agree.
