I owned four different '69's but there's that one still strikes a chord in my hot-rodder heart 45 years later. A fathom green model with a lot of neat options including a fold down back seat and endura front bumper, lowered to within an inch of the ground in front. My older brother mechanic wanted his \"kid' brother to have the fastest car in school so he pulled the motor down and installed exactly that, 12:1 pistons, an extremely radical cam and a Holley 850, headers, no smog gear, traction bars etc. And the fastest car at school it was. Combined with 4.56 gears and 15\" Corvette rally wheels out back and the widest possible tire it was unbeatable. I felt like John Milner, every time someone at school got a new muscle car we had to meet on the frontage road next to the school (how lucky for us). It ran about like you typical 300 horse 350 up to 4,000 RPMs but after that all hell broke loose. The only problem was it had to be re tuned, no exaggeration every week to keep it perfect. When everything was just right I could spin it a little past the end of the 7.000 RPM tachometer. Fortunately I worked at a Conoco gas station and it was a permanent visitor after hours. It's truly hard to imagine how good those little solid lifter mouse motor runs unless you experience it. No prettier sound than banging gears at 6500 RPMs in one. This is an excellent example as it has the console/gauge package that many '67-'68 models don't have, I like the finned vs chrome valve covers and you gotta' love the Ralley green. In my time with these fine cars I only saw one this color. I also like the clean look of no cowl induction. From my experience only about one in five to ten had that option new and now days almost everybody has installed one.
