Would be nice if the owner would disclose any patch panels used when doing the lower repaint. Grew up in the 3spd/4spd. years & speed shifting a column shift is an amazing feat, even with all new linkage & bushings, if you consider the mechanical disadvantage of the shifting linkage routing versus a quality floor shifter connected directly to the trans., end of story. I always missed the '57 Chevy and I can still picture the rotting exhaust out let in the bumper and the where the gas went in behind a wing. I got it from my friend's mom when I went off to college in 1978. It was the car that had taken me to school functions, bowling leagues, and all around Atlanta, GA. Her given name was Maggie and I paid $1 for her with 110K mi on the clock. She was black on gray buckets and had a little 221 V8 (the smallest and lightest Ford Windsor ever made, I think), a 2 speed slush box and the cherry bomb muffler that I later installed. I thought it was pretty bad ass car, but at 18 my take on reality wasn't what it is now. I also began my hobby path in automotive mechanics and bought my first set of cheap tools that I used to change out the generator brushes it ate every month or so, since I didn't have the cash to buy a rebuilt one. Later, with the help of a friend who actually knew what he was doing, I dropped the tranny and put in a new torque converter. I drove the crap out of that little car for about a year, including one rainy day, 70 mph hydroplane on I-20 that resulted in a 540 degree spin out and 3 lanes of stopped west bound traffic facing me... everyone just shaking their heads and thinking \"what the hell is that dumb ass kid doing?\" I was very lucky and learned some respect that day. Then, one day she just quit. The local mechanic said she had broken the timing chain. I wasn't prepared to tackle that, so I sold her for a $99 profit. I'll always look fondly on these cars and I have never seen another 2 door come up for sale with a 221 V8, though I'm sure some must be out there.
