I purchased this Scrambler from the long time owner who lived in the Carolina's. He was an older retired gentlemen who had it for a long time and took good care of it. Every year or so he would apply a mixture of used engine oil and diesel fuel to the frame and chassis area. He did have it repainted in the original color - Canary Red. As you can see it has been well preserved. As a result I wanted to keep this CJ8 original. I did have the top repainted inside and out as it was showing its age. The bed liner was also professionally prepped and sprayed. Attached before bed pic shows I am not trying to hide anything and its more practical when loading kayaks. I have gone threw and changed all the fluids on this as they were old and its something that always makes me feel better. When draining the radiator, I broke the cock pit off so I bought a similar OEM style from Collins Brothers for $529 which they use in their restorations. While at it I replaced the thermostat as well so it has not had any issues with overheating. The carpeting is new, shocks are new and the rims and tires are new (Less than 25 miles on them). This truck runs and drives well. The paint is in great shape, I just waxed and detailed in the spring. It has been stored in doors and it shows. I am only selling to make room. If It does not meet the reserve, I continue drive and enjoy this beauty. The 110hp 4.2L is a good dependable powertrain but it lacks power with modern traffic. To stay with the 'Jeep' spirit of things I have a '95 Jeep 4.0L f.i. 190 hp engine matted to a T400. Dana 44 with a 4:10 gear ratio out the back. Now it's fun to drive. The factory placement of the seats is too close to the doors in order to allow room for a console. When driving you are cramped with your left shoulder up against the drivers glass if it's up making driving very uncomfortable. I recovered seats to make them period correct from a '14 Caravan, they have an armrest on the right hand side and are power. I also moved them inboard eliminating the console and wow what a difference. Now you are more centred on the steering wheel and you feel way less cramped if driving with the window up, which now makes the A/C much more practical. Going through an intersection after a red light you get passed by everything but a bicycle lol. A Dodge Caravan does 0-60 mph in 8.0 seconds, that's a big difference in city traffic. On the highway once you get it wound up and the thing is screaming at you sure you can buzz along at 65 mph, but who wants to do that? The auto biz had just spent most of the \u201870s in a Hp malaise and in the \u201880s we saw some improvements but it wasn\u2019t until the \u201890s and 2000s that auto manufacturers developed the tech to accomplish increased Hp along with improved fuel economy along with the extra gross weight that safety standards required. I mostly drove my 8 on hard pavement in town with only an occasional superslab as well as mild off-road four wheeling. I loved my CJ despite the flaws and would have not sold it except I needed room for two passengers. A divorce sure can mess up what a guy can drive daily!!
