I see lot of clues that the person who worked on it (restored it?) was knowledgeable about SMs (factory routing of oil cooler lines and speedometer cable are often done differently). I see SM-World AC Compressor brackets for the upgraded compressor. I would not be surprised if this is a car that Jerry used to maintain and maybe restored.\n\nThe early CX A/C defeat switch suggests the last owner or restorer was very particular with this SM - those switches are HARD to find and are the only ones that look right imo.\n\nThe engine was pulled at some point during which time the firewall was polished - this is an earmark of work done by both SM World and Excelsior Motors.\n\nThe paint job looks *somewhat* like Blue d'Orient, but (and this may be due to the lighting in the photos): it appears a bit too intense/bright. Blue d'Orient is usually a dark navy blue - nearly black in darker light. It also looks like a gloss rather than a metallic color. Blue d'Orient was only offered in '72 & '73 and only on 3% of global production in '73.\n\nThe big gamble on this car is the lack of records on the drive train. Based on the way the car looks/sounds, the exhaust valves and timing chains were *probably* upgraded - but, we can't be sure without records or pulling things apart.\n\nThe condition of the chassis in combination with what appears to have been an engine out activity suggest to me that the car has more than 33k miles.\n\nThe paint on the inside of the front fenders (under the hood) shows a repaint - the fenders were not painted completely under the hood from the factory.\n\nNot much to fault here other than lack of history.
