The A79/1 435 cc engine gives almost as much peak power as the 602 cc engines so once you are having it screaming at 7,000 rpm I think the top speed is almost identical. Instead, the challenge is that the A79/1 has no torque so you really can\u2019t lug it at higher gears, you need to rev it to the redline for each upshift or it will bog down (especially if you have a passenger with you in the car!) So I found the 2CV4 fun, a bit challenging and for sure more work to drive in city traffic as you have to drive it like you stole it at all times. The \u201cbig block\u201d 602 cc is comparatively relaxing in a 2CV. I realize that this is your business and that you are interested in creating a market for these cars but there are some of us who do have them and speak from experience by driving here in the US. I have a Charleston 2CV6 and I can tell you that it will travel all day long at 72 miles an hour without a problem. The issues arise only when the car is loaded with three other passengers, hills and wind resistance. I have had to downshift to second and hopefully get the car to 50 miles an hour. Like Beyfon said, the 2CV4 with it's 435CC, does not have the torque to handle the freeway speeds without the higher revs. This is not comfortable and made even harder in stop and go traffic. Anyone purchasing this car should enjoy light freeway use but consider staying on country roads similar to what the original design intended. I've driven both in France and as a result specifically sought a 602CC. As far as collectors go, I have not heard of the \"2CV4 being more sought after by collectors,\" I have, in fact heard of collectors searching for models such as the Gauloise, Dolly, Ente, James Bond Edition and the Charlestons (like mine), to name a few. You have a beautiful car and I'm impressed that you have taken the time to return the car to its original color and appointments. I'm not as familiar with the 70's models but I do seem to remember that the speedometer like yours is typical of a \"Club\" version, however; the steering wheel might be that of a \"Speciale\" instead of the single spoke. It was named \u201cPumpkin\u201d. I didn\u2019t like driving it on the highway\u2014though it was quite capable of sitting at 90-100 Kms. At Christmas we,d put on elf hats, roll back the roof and drive down to the Christmas tree store for an eight foot tree, which would then stick through the roof as we paraded through the town to much local merriment. The windage from the tree was so great that 50 Kms. Was about maximum. These are the most unthreatening, smile-provoking, nostalgia-inducing cars ever produced. Easy to work on, and parts are cheap, but be warned: they were built to the very lowest bottom line. Thus though the engineering is brilliant, the materials are 'cheap-n-cheerful'. The cooling fan, and therefore the main cooling shroud, I believe to be correct for 602, not 435.\r\n\r\nFor me, the diagnostic has always been: If the heat exchangers are parallel from front to rear, it's a 435cc; if they diverge toward the rear, it's a 602. By this, it's a 435. I'm not certain, but I think the manifolds for 602 won't bolt up to 435 cylinder heads: the 602 engine is wider than the 435.\r\n\r\nSo is this a 602 with 435 heat exchangers, or a 435 with a bunch of 602 parts?
