He, also, worked as an engineer for Chrysler (on the racing side of things) for some years!!! Truly, an impressive guy, impressive business, and, am impressive family!!!\r\n\r\nRegarding the color, & Paint Codes, I have Chrysler Corp. Parts Counter Paint Catalogs for the 1969, 1970, & 1971 model years, as well as truly sizable (3.5\u201d x 8.5\u201d) official Chrysler Corp. paint chips in a 6-ring binder + large mid-year paint chips from the 1970 model year. Sometimes, there is a lack of clarity in regard to the Codes, because, people may refer to them by their complete 3-character code designation, while others may refer to them by their 2-character \u201ccorporate root\u201d code designation (such as @caozman did), however, both are\ud83d\udc4d\ud83c\udffbcorrect! (It\u2019s just that the 3-character designation has greater specificity.) As an example, using the 3-character Paint Code on the Fender Tag for this GTX (FK5), the first letter; F; designates the Model Year during which the color was first introduced (F = 1970). The second letter; K; designates the \u201cfamily\u201d of colors from which it comes (K = Orange, which I believe, they used, because they did not want the letter O to be confused with the numeral 0). [Note: Oftentimes, the \u201cfamily\u201d of colors are denoted by something obvious, i.e.: B = Blue, R = Red, T = Tan, W = White, Y = Yellow, however, there definitely are specific exceptions.] Finally, the third character (which is alway a numeral); 5; designates the shade; how light, or, dark, the particular color is within the color family. (The lower the number, the lighter the color; the greater the number, the darker the color.) In this case, the \u201c5\" designates a color at the center of the spectrum within the family. \u2026And, lastly, sometimes there is confusion because of the Color Name to which a color may be referred. I think that's a universal statement. As I can best remember it was probably 1973 when a teenager in my home town who had been well indulged by his parents so that he had a 1970 GTX 440 6 bbl that was Hemi orange with all the graphics and of course some Cragars was having a really hard time with the tune as it wouldn't start, it wouldn't run right, it wouldn't restart when hot and had already had the carbs catch fire. He wasn't getting any competent professional help and his own tinkering just made it worse. He also had a hot Kawasaki motorcycle and donned his helmet to run the GTX up a winding country road out of town where he deliberately drove off the road into a stone wall and bounced into a tree. The helmet probably saved him from serious injury but he was still dazed enough that the first witness found him with the helmet on. The story broke down into a deliberate crash that resulted in charges including insurance fraud. The casualty rate for these cars was compounded by all sorts of drama that gives us the few remaining survivors and assures their value. It also accounts for a lot of parts still circulating like original six pack setups and stuff but that surplus is rapidly diminishing. A previous owner put that hood on the car, no hardware to actuate the air grabber, and no air cleaner base to make it functional. If all of that were there, I might have left it despite not being original. Also missing from the tag is J45 or hood pins. I like them, but since the original hood is not drilled for them, I removed them as well. All of these items will accompany the sale so that the buyer can replace them if desired. The air grabber hood is an OEM piece, but not in the excellent condition the original one is, so I decided to put it back on the car after all the years it was stored.
