When I install the steering damper system, I align the flat part of the rod where the knob attaches to point forward as I lower it into the bottom slide. It is matching numbers. It has the unobtainium right side straight edge side cover. The replacement ones have the cutout for the subframe bolt to attach the special solo seat hinge. This bike has the correct R90S only black and aluminum handlebar risers. I can see no dents chips or cracks in the paint so a repaint if wanted would only need minimal prep work. The bike could be brought back to original ridden as is and enjoyed or be made into a custom showpiece. The Dellorto carbs don't really care what color the bike is. Here is a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a great motorcycle and build it your way. That is what BaT is all about, motorcycle fun. I have a 1976 custom R90S that looks very little like the original version yet rides like a stock one and puts a smile on my face just thinking about it. Not an easy Motif to reproduce. Paint is still readily available though precious $$$$! Hand that to an artisan. I've seen several repaints that were as good or better than factory.\n\nThe R90 version of the venerable 247 series motors is by far the most balanced of all the displacement variants. \n\nThe R90S motor was/is the hot rod of the family. The current owner of this bike actually has owned it since 1988, 35 years! Bat composes the write up, not us. The current title in hand shows purchase date as 2/18/88. In 2000 he and his brother set out to refurbish the bike, which included an engine rebuild with new pistons and rings, etc. It was done by a local shop with no receipts in hand as he paid as work progressed. He wanted a paint job to tribute to Steve McLaughlins AMA Superbike race at Daytona. Pridmore went on to win the 1976 AMA Superbike Championship, cementing the bikes place in MC history. Additional items done to refurbish the bike include:\r\n\r\ncompetion 2-1 exhaust\r\nNew SS nuts and bolts installed\r\nRebuilt seat pan with new seat and foam\r\nrecent Carb tune and inspection by BMW Motorad of St Louis\r\nNew Handelbars\r\nNew Koni Shocks\r\nAll body parts were stripped to bare metal and repainted with painted pin stripes\r\nNew hand grips and mirrors. \r\n\r\nWE have been selling classic cars and motorcycles since 1987 and were the sole Bimota dealership in the state of Missouri before the company went bankrupt for the final time. Hence our name, MotoeXotica. I must say that the amount of Vitriol comments from the BaT PaTROOL is alarming and dis-heartening. I felt bad giving this elderly gentleman seller the link to the auction, as we are talking about this mans baby. While the paint job may not be an exact copy of Daytona Orange, it was the best he could find someone to do at the time, largely before the internet came to be.
