I believe this is because you are so self aware you are in a RHD car, you pay a lot more attention to your car position in the lane so you don't hit oncoming traffic or drive off the road. As someone said earlier, maybe it's a Japanese thing. It's also a manual transmission. Trust me, it will only take you about 10 minutes to get used to shifting with your left hand. The harder part of driving a RHD is to train your brain to orient yourself with the right side of the lane, otherwise you'll begin to drift over to the left.
