I proceeded to DD and wheel that thing pretty hard for 4 years or so. Eventually had to repair the frame after the rear perches punched through while on A Jeep Jamboree at the YO Ranch. So there is only about 1100 miles on the wheels between the two Jeeps. I used these tires from my collection because they had excellent tread on them and I liked the way they ride. The tire store originally did not want to mount them for me due to the tires age, but they hold excellent tire pressure and they were stored in a garage. I have a new set of Goodyear Wranglers that could be put on the CJ5, but they are 225/75/15 and the Wrangler RTS tires on it now are 235/75/15. I will do whatever the winning bidder wants me to do concerning the tires. There is nothing wrong with the suspension, my driveway is not level and leans down toward the garden area. The Jeep sits level and the suspension is stock height. Furthermore, this Jeep except for the wheels/tires, seat upholstery, seatbelts, and color change is correct as built at the factory. I have a bone stock '72 CJ-6 and with the AMC 4.2 engine it's a very capable around town driver. It has no problem keeping up with or ahead of traffic although I don't use it on the Interstate Highways. The only problem is when folks behind you don't expect the one-two shift that occurs less than twenty feet after you start moving. But they're usually the limited attention span types anyway, Mine has 4.27:1 axles that I understand were optional lower ratio units. Forty mph driving is easy and 50 doesn't feel strained. @Malahat - Your cross country drive back home with this Jeep would probably give you enough time to come up with a plan on how to make things right with the wife, or at least figure out where you're going to live for the immediate future.\r\n\r\nAmong the benefits of the AMC CJs are dual circuit brakes and larger diameter drums, which I believe went from 10 inch to 11 inch. They seem perfectly adequate to me, although one guy I met that had done the disc brake swap said the drums are touchy in the snow. This is the first winter I've had mine running but it hasn't snowed to speak of yet.\r\n\r\nMine came with 235/75-15 tires as on this one and I replaced them with 225/75-15. Both sizes fit under the stock fenders without the need for the flares.
