They were silver and I immediately sprayed them Dupicolor black. I though it would look better that way and I was happy. I admittedly do not worry a whole lot about the cosmetics of wheels. The car came to me with 16\" Columbia wheels and well used 205 section tires. Columbias were a dealer option for people that wanted more sidewall for ride comfort and rim protection. Since I lived in not San Francisco, but the Bay Area of California at the time- where the roads are generally decent, I thought I would go for the 17\" Titans and sourced a set. Since I had installed the so called 'OEM reverse' intercooler piping (IPD found this was worth +8 hp IIRC), a 2.5\" IPD cat back exhaust, and a Speedtuning 17psi 'chip', traction was an issue. So I put the Titans with 225 45 17\" summer tires on the car and hated the set up. They made the already tall gearing a fair bit taller, and the corners felt like they weighed a freaking ton. So I sold the Titans with the tires after a few thousand miles. These Pegasus replicas are 22 lbs each and 7\" wide with the correct offset (Titans are 28) and the 225 45 16\" tires are lighter offer more section and lower the gearing (1.2 % shorter than 205 45 17\"). The car is much better to drive with this set up. Then 225 45 16\" almost disappeared 4-5 years ago then bumped up to 5-6 DOT approved choices a few months ago and now have dropped back to a DOT approved 3-4 choices. I think supply chain issues have caused the latest drop in. All that said I wish I had kept a set of Titans for eventual sale. I believe that the B6 and B8 are very similar in valving with the B8 having a shorter stroke. The car is on non Nivomat dampers and rear springs and there are no issues with the set up. I removed the Nivomats as one was on its way out and replaced the Nivomat specific springs with the green paint marked OEM rear 850 wagon springs. The T-5R did not come with the shorter ride height 'sport springs' that were on the next years 850 R. I ended up with Koni Sport in the front and Bilsteins in the rear in 2005 when I bought IPD sway bars, an IPD strut brace, and the 2.5\" IPD cat back lightly used from a gentleman who was turning his 850 back to stock. He was surprised that he had the Bilsteins in the rear as he paid to have a set of Koni Sports installed. I put all the dampers on and the work great with the springs. In 2009 one of the front Koni struts developed a leak. I might have bought the last Vovlo 850 Koni sport in the US as it took allot of searching to find. I just checked FCPs website and no Koni sports for the 850. On 10/31/1995 the Connecticut Motor Vehicle Department in Montvale NJ reports the car with 72 miles on it having title issued updated and a first owner reported, and then Titled or Registered as a personal lease vehicle.\r\n \r\nWhat I have gathered from fellow Volvo enthusiast is that Volvo brought these wagons into the US as executive cars and or corporate cars. I have found no way of verifying that. The wheeler dealer Ebay guy I bought the car from said he bought it from the Stamford Connecticut Volvo dealer as a trade in. The car sports a Stamford emblem that was very securely attached above the Volvo emblem on the left side of the liftgate. \r\n\r\nBefore I made the decision to purchase the car I PMed with a Volvo enthusiast on either the Swedespeed or Volvospeed boards with the user name 'Meosam' (or close to that) about the car. He saw it when it was offered privately before it went in on a trade to the dealer and reported it was living a garaged life in a really really nice neighborhood in or around Stamford and that the wife of the family that showed him the car was quite attractive. Now there is a big subject. Quick answer, less than a quart between changes which have been at 3-5 k intervals. It weeps a little oil from the intercooler weep hole, the small rectangular fluid drain at the bottom of the transmission engine, the turbo oil return line, and some ATF from the axle seals and transmission cooler lines. But it does not drip. I suppose it must happen but I just went and looked and it dry under the car which is the way it has always been. I can recall a couple road trips where I had the opportunity to drive at 80-90 over passes in the open west for hours a day in a loaded car and the consumption went up- but not excessively. It uses remarkably little oil. The first oil change I made once I got the car home I of course followed the sage wisdom of the interwebs and put in Mobile one 10w 30. Cool and all but it burned a quart pretty quick. Very early in my ownership I was given the number for 'Volvo George' from the guys at a little Volvo parts shop in Albany CA called RPR (IIRC). Volvo George had a shop in Alemeda CA and the guys at RPR highly recommended him but cautioned \"Do not haggle with him, he will get really pissed\", which I thought was an odd bit of advice to give about someone you are recommending... But intrigued I went and had some work done by Volvo George and he said Mobile one was way too thin and recommended that I use Chevron Delo 15W 40 which is a diesel motor oil. He said the detergent package and the high ZDDP level were what I wanted for a turbocharged car and that the catalytic converter would be fine. I changed to the Delo and it quieted down the lifter noise (these cars have very clakety hydraulic lifters) and the oil consumption back then was less than half a quart every 3-5k change. So I stuck with it and every change has been Chevron Delo 15w 40. The formulation of all motor oil has changed a bunch since 2005 but I'm not messing with a good thing. Other things that probably have helped with the low oil consumption is that the rear main seal was replaced before it ever started to leak with the revised part at 123k, the crankcase ventilation system has been changed three times during our ownership, and I have a hunch the engine has never been overheated or run low on oil. It certainly has not been overheated or run low on oil during our ownership and the whole cooling system was replaced at 200k to preserve the good fortune. The one oil related issue occurred around 2013-2014 when the collector or junction box on the crankcase ventilation system cracked way ahead of its reasonable lifetime. It was a little stinky in the cabin for a year before I took it in and had the crankcase ventilation system replaced again. It took me a long time for me to figure this out but that broken PVC episode gummed up the piston rings and the car smoked enough in 2014 (see CarFax) to not pass the visual smog test a couple times when the engine was throttled. I thought the valve stem seals were shot but the problem started easing, the car passed the smog test and I forgot about it. When I took the car into an Indy a couple years ago for the strut mounts, blown Koni, and primary o2 sensor and some other things and I had then do a compression test. It came out 160, 135, 160, 140, 155. So the gummed up rings were still somewhat gummed up. Not great, not terrible, I couldn't feel it driving but, enough difference between cylinders that the mix is not going to be ideal for the differing cylinder pressures. The Indy suggested the old Marvel Mystery Oil treatment for one night but I nixed that since the car mostly sat I could give it a good long soaking. So I did- a nice week long MMO cylinder soak. Blew out the combustion chambers, Idled it to running temp, changed the oil, drove the car for a couple hundred miles and the compression tested at 155,160, 165, 170, 160. Made it perkier. I ended up really liking Volvo George and drank beers with him a couple times after hours and he told me long wild stories of high desert mayhem and taught me a few things about autos. A couple times when I called he would say- \"I'm going to be in LA for a couple months, call me after that\". It turned out he was working on Jay Leno's cars and eventually moved down there and started working for Jay full time restoring and maintaining cars. Fortunately TD04 turbos are cheap and easy to deal with. I installed a new VSR balanced turbo core in my T-5R recently and now have no significant oil consumption at 307k miles. Some info to supplement the photos of the interior: The steering wheel leather has holes worn at 9 o'clock and 1 o'clock each with 3\" x 1/2\" ovals down to what feels like a second leather layer. The Alcantara is smushed forever on the steering wheel. The drivers seat left back bolster has worn through in a 1 sq\u201d or so area, and the drivers seat cushion feels tired- particularly the left thigh bolster. Both front seat electronics work fully including heaters. A few years ago a rear window was left open on a rainy night and there is a water mark down the right rear seat back. I put lots of Lexol on the seats every year or two and that water mark has been fading with each application but will likely persist. The Lexol has kept the leather relaxed enough that the seams are not under tension and none have ripped. If you don\u2019t know what Lexol is made of, coyotes do, and one night a coyote jumped into the car when the windows were down letting a Lexol application air out and the wiley critter left footprints all over the seats. Thankfully the footprints wiped off\u2026.\r\n\r\nWhen the HVAC system was entirely rebuilt in 2012 by ARD in Beaverton OR, the tab with nutsert on the drivers side of the dash frame broke. The other 3 tabs and other dash attachment points are intact but the dash is sagging a little on the drivers side. Removing the dash cap to repair the broken tab and reinforce the other 3 firewall mounting points would be wise. The HVAC system is fully functional and HAS NOT been recently recharged.\r\n\r\nThe liftgate has two plastic rivets added to the middle brake light cover and 4 nutrivets added to the bottom of the lift gate sheetmetal that accept four 3/8\u201d-16 screws through bottom of the cover. These additions mostly solved the well-known Volvo 855 lifgate cover squeaking and rattling and even half falling off issues.\r\n\r\nBits of adhesive backed foam, Teflon tape, and the occasional self tapping screw have been added in non-cosmetic locations throughout the cabin to (mostly) eliminate the myriad of squeaks and rattles that the wagons can accumulate.\r\n\r\nI believe T-5Rs were described by Volvo as having every option. This one did not have the cabin air filter, which I added a soon after my purchase with the Volvo kit.\r\n\r\nThe 5 (or 6?) CD Volvo branded remote cd changer had been viciously ripped out of the car at the time of purchase and I did not replace it.\r\n\r\nThe head unit that was in the car at the time of purchase went out and I replaced it with the nearest equivalent from year or two later MY Volvo 850 with the premium sound system. The security code is written on the head unit chassis. It is 1995 T5 literature with the wrong vin showing in a couple places. \r\n\r\nThe paintless dent repair of the hood and the front right fender being repaired and repainted were addressing a second stationary incident. A delivery truck broke a 10-20 lb branch off onto the car while the car was parked. The small crease at the top of the fender was deep enough to require that the fender be resprayed after the repair.\r\n\r\nThe door repair and respray occurred when the bumpers were being replaced. The body shop doing the bumper repair dented the door (....), repaired and resprayed it. Once again the car was stationary.\r\n\r\nAll the panels are original and this bodywork was all minor.\r\n\r\nI chose not pressure wash the undercarriage of the car.
