I should have a BorgWarner Model 35 rather than the older (first generation) BorgWarner DG-250. The car has the old PNDLR shift sequence with the addition of the Intermediate speed hold to the left of the steering wheel. This is effectively a device for selecting and holding 2nd gear. The BW does not have or need this feature and the shift sequence should be PRND21 (or PRN, D2, D1, L). A perfect example of Sir William Lyons thrift and business model of building a fine cars to a specific price point. No tossing of perfectly good transmissions when there's a ready supply of the earlier ones sitting on the shelf! Not a thing wrong with this car if that is the case. It's just the way it was done. Other British manufacturers did this too, with some (who shall remain nameless) becoming well known for their frugal use of the parts bin. \r\n\r\n@CarDogThreePedals\r\n\r\nThis was indeed a car favored by the the law breakers and law men of the era. The Mk I and II cars were the choice of second tier baddies doing the hard lifting while the bosses, like the infamous Kray brothers, Ronnie and Reggie favored the Jaguar Mk X (they had several) , Rolls Royce and American Lincolns and Fords bought during their association with the American mob and facilitated by American actor and Bugsy Siegel buddy George Raft. But they were also the common choice for the good guy Police Chief Inspectors as well. \r\n\r\nIn all a fascinating car when considered from its point in history! This looks like a very nice example.
