At that time the engine had already been rebuilt. Case was \u201csavered\u201d line bored, euro pistons, backdated exhaust, Weber carbs. Really enjoyed driving the car and had no intentions to sell. My old neighbor and life long friend wanted me to come and look at a 84 Carrera being sold in another town. We went to inspect that car and it turned out to be a good buy but my friend just couldn\u2019t pull the trigger. I ended up selling this car to him and bought the Carrera. \r\nHe stripped the car and had it repainted. The original paint was tired. While the car was apart he had the engine rebuilt again due to heavy smoking at start-up. It was believed the guy who did the rebuild before I got it didn\u2019t bed the rings and or guides were on the loose side. That ended up taking care of the smoking. What you see now is normal with this vintage. \r\nThe seller asked me several years ago to help him decide on a fun car that he would enjoy driving and doing routine service work. We settled on a 911 as being that car. I said to him I haven\u2019t talked to my friend in a while and didn\u2019t know if he still had my old 911. I did remember him saying he didn\u2019t get a chance to drive it as much as he would have liked and thought at some point he would sell it. Well I called him up and as they say the rest is history. \r\nI wish I could be in the bid for this one! I will have to make due with my Corvair Corsa.
