Same \u2018Oak\u2019 interior. 331,000 miles on it, and when i get the heater core replaced ( after shivering for 2 winters) I can imagine it running reliably for another 70,000 miles easily. The same slight oil weep from 3 years ago still there, but that V6 still doesn\u2019t use oil between 3000 to 4000 mile oil changes. 1 ball joint was shot when i bought it, and the alternator finally went late last fall. Stories of stellar reliability on these rigs i totally believe. My brakes have been very good. These rigs truly do inspire loyalty. 3 items my truck has this one doesn\u2019t. 5 speed, rear locker ( indispensable for winter driving in my view) and that cool little clutch pedal override button for starting.\nI use that little feature almost every time i start it. The reliability of the 3.4 is quite remarkable. \r\n\r\nI worked at a highway checkpoint and asked a guy a few years ago how many miles he had on his 02 4Runner. He showed me the odometer with approximately 520K miles. Said he had owned it since new. I asked him if he had changed the engine or transmission to which he replied that he had the engine rebuilt at 500K. Original transmission. \r\n\r\nHe said he had used fully synthetic oil the whole time and just did basic maintenance whenever needed.\r\n\r\nBeautiful 4Runner in this auction. The truck he was referring to is a Garnet Pearl 1992 V6 4Runner that he purchased new at Chuck Obershaw in San Bernardino, CA where, in typical Dad fashion, he had checked every available option box - fully loaded.\r\n\r\nAnyway, Dad's purpose was for it to be parked in his heated garage at the lake on a trickle charger, fueled and always at the ready in case the weather turned or conditions (earthquakes) got dicey and his DD couldn't cut it. The 4R was never called into such service and because he only used the house in the nice weather, it only made occasional jaunts to town on sunny days. Dad used to tell me that every time he drove it to town, at least one person would approach him to offer crazy money to buy it. He never could understand why it garnered so much attention but it always made him laugh. \r\n\r\nIt only had 12k miles when it moved to my garage and during the last six years of his life, Dad would always ask me what I was doing with his 'old lake truck' and couldn't understand why I would want to keep that old truck around and only drive it sparingly on nice days...\r\n\r\nAs others have noted, not too many of these left in the condition of this one.
