As soon as the engine starts the gauge settles in to the proper pressure reading and the idiot light works as it should. When the engine is turned off the gauge will slowly drop as the pressure bleeds off and when it reaches about 2 bar it will then jump over to 5 again. This is a glitch that has shown up on some early 89 fully stock 928\u2019s and I haven\u2019t been able to find the solution. The instrument cluster is from an 89 928. One thing to note in regards to temp readings. When I was getting on it hard on a hot day the gauge was reading a bit high although not in the red. I took my IR gun to check temps under the hood and everything was good, 195 - 200F. The coolant temp sensor is on the back of the motor right above #4 exhaust port so that will be the hottest point to read coolant temp. Porsche factory setups have the temp sensor on the top front of the motor.
