I'm the seller. \nI'd like to take the opportunity to address some comments/concerns. First, and clearly most important, is the extent of the engine rebuild. I've attempted to contact the previous owner to definitively determine what was and was not done on the rebuild. I have no documentation of the rebuild or respray, but when I first saw the car in June, 2005, it was clearly obvious the engine had been removed and worked on extensively. The carburetors were attached but had not been rebuilt yet (I had this done in August, 2006) and the paint looked freshly applied. New gaskets, fresh bolts and the like do not equal proof that the engine was thoroughly rebuilt, I understand, but it seems reasonable if one were to begin a restoration project that entailed the removal of the engine, one would also address major problems with said engine. At any rate, hopefully I'll hear back from the previous owner (or better yet, he can post his comment here) and update shortly.\nIndeed, the timing chain and tensioner are well known issues that absolutely must not be allowed to slack. Any slack will be audible as the infamous 'death rattle'. With any luck, the attached videos should allay any fears the car suffers from a loose timing chain. The newspaper advertisement, which I still have, simply stated 'rebuilt engine,new paint,need final assembly'.\nAs for the paint, I have the original paint decal which definitely has the paint code as '531' which is a silver/gray. The car was yellow before the latest overspray, so I think the car was originally silver/gray, repainted yellow at some point, and then repainted to its original color. \nThe paint scratches on the rollbar are from putting the top up and down. When I first got the car and installed the rollbar, I was oh-so-carefull doing this so as not to scratch the paint, but after the first kinda bad scratch, I realized trying to never scratch it up was a lost cause, so I stopped worrying about it. Sort of like losing your first game in an NCAA Tourney bracket.\nPlease be aware that the drivers door lock pull assembly has fallen into the interior of the door. I never found the actual black epoxy screw-on door lock pulls when re-assembling the car, and never bought replacements. Somewhere along the way someone went to lock to drivers door, and the assembly went into the door. It will call for removal of the door panel (easy for a professional; I seem to have an uncanny knack for destroying door panels when I try to do it) putting it back where it belongs, and screwing on fresh-from-ebay door lock pulls.\nPlease right-click on the photos in the gallery to view high-res images. Mine was silver, SRL, no roll bar - the front tracks something like 1.5\" wider than the back, corner like they're on rails, probably can't flip if you tried! Lots of small cars of the era were burnt badly by the 2000. \r\n\r\nThe megaphone tip is a huge add. Great sound, and different from other 2L cars. The interior trim bits are all in great shape, too. I haven't seen anyone comment on what appears to be poor bondo work around the rear wheel openings. They rust there, where the front fender mounting brace is welded onto the back of the fender at the cowl (vertical line just behind the firewall), and behind the DATSUN letters on the hood. As for the videos, they were included to demonstrate the engine starts with no weird noises, runs smoothly through a range of RPM's, idles well, has good throttle response and stops without dieseling. The road video is included to show the car is fully capable as a driver with (again) no weird noises, squeaks, rattles, vibrations, etc..going through all five gears. I did try to make a video going up Germantown Rd. (a very fun twisty road) but my camera tripod/apparatus/setup kept falling over. The tire extraction issue would affect the rolled lip, but not reshape the edge of the fender lip. Add the dubious masking of the rear bumper tip rubber protectors where they meet the body, and of the rear side markers, and painting over the door info plate. Makes one wonder about the paint application. Looks great in pics, but what is the metal beneath like? The top is supposed to have \"skirts\" that snap over the top's scissor-like sides above the windows. Someone else commented on the tail lamps should be chromed, and these are but are terribly tarnished. Those lamp housings, the rubber gaskets, and correct trunk and hood seals are easily sourced.
