I purchased the 122 out of Prescott Arizona shortly after it competed in the 2015 Trans America. My son and I flew out and drove her back to Asheville, North Carolina, the long way. My interest was it's provenance having been professionally prepared in the UK to compete in a number of endurance events in Europe and Africa before being sent back to the US. I have another 122, purchased on BAT, that then sat for the next 2 years while I enjoyed this car as my daily driver. I think I put about ~10K miles during that time without issue. I live on a gravel road about 1 mile off the Blue Ridge Parkway and it was the perfect car. Eventually the time came and I had to choose between my 122's as I just wasn't driving the other. Based on my wife's proclivity for blue cars I came to sell this one to Neill and Jayne. \n\nAbout the car. It's very solid, overbuild with lot of redundancy for endurance events (it had and FIA card at one point). The twin Weber carburetors make all the right noise (are thirsty though but you have 20 gallons of fuel between the dual tanks) and provide good linear power. The handling is greatly improved with the modifications and is very easy to throttle steer on loose surfaces but remains stable and flat in all conditions. When I had the car checked out at Flying Circus Garage I did not note the test result numbers - other than the fact that the car ran well and had no issues with the engine. With regards to motor work - the car was seriously overhauled a number of years ago so that it could compete in vintage rallies. I would guess that it was completely rebuilt. It has 2 coils, 2 accelerator cables, weber carbs, and improved suspension. This is what is obvious from looking at the car. I do not have receipts for any of this work. If you look at the gallery - you will see the receipt from Flying Circus and the work they did for me - they fixed some electrical issues, they worked on the brakes, an exhaust mount and installed a choke for me. Their remit was to fix anything that needed fixing. Their impression was that it was a really nice solid car. My mechanical knowledge is very limited which is why I took the car to a specialist to make sure everything was good. Hence I could not tell you if it has a limited slip differential or not. I would assume a low compression flowed head so the car can operate on low octane fuel found elsewhere in the world. Again, reliability over max power. Most of the events entered involved short time trial stages with several hundred Km of transition between. One other notable is the rear suspension points have been reinforced (you need to remove the aux petrol tank to see them). Also that brass valve is the stop cock for the aux fuel tank. I removed the plumbing that routed into the cabin as a safety measure given I used it as a daily driver.
