I'd recommend replacing the missing radiator guard. This important cross-member not only protects the low-slung radiator, but also stiffens the front end of the chassis.\r\n\r\n2. The carbs and intake manifold don't match. This intake is the short style from an early TR4, normally paired with long-necked SU H6 carbs. But these are short-necked HS6 carbs from a late TR4A, which work best with the longer, curved intakes on those cars. I believe there is some easy horsepower to be gained here, just by switching to the matching TR4A manifold.\r\n\r\n3. This beauty deserves a sealed battery, or at the very least a decent battery box to catch the inevitable sulfuric acid seepage before it hits that lovely engine compartment. Why spend tens of thousands of dollars restoring the car and then plop a leaky box of acid right down in the middle of it with no protection? This is a bad combination because it allows dusty air near the road surface to be drawn directly into the crankcase without filtration. I only know this because it was pointed out to me on my first TR4, which had been set up the same way by a previous owner.
